In a lengthy video interview with German editing of Rolling Stone, Michael Rother is talking about his upcoming USA, Mexico and Europe Hallogallo 2010 tour, where his back-up band will consist of Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth fame on drums and Aaron Mullan of Tall Firs, presumably handling the guitar duties.

But mr. Rother also reveals other musicians, like John and Josh Klinghoffer will be integrated in this project on occasion. There's no word on what the occasion is, but knowing more about it and knowing that it is still an option, after a news or two on it last year, is great.

You can find the tour dates on mr. Rother's homepage (USA ones are in a couple of days, so if you're based there, hurry up!) and watch the whole interview below. It's in German, and the exciting bit comes at about 8:15. However, given this artist's impressive work, you should give the whole thing a go.

Many thanks to Frank for this exciting piece of news!

What kind of notice do you think we'll get here in the states if John joins him during one his shows? I'm in Texas and would like to make advance arrangements.

I assume there isn't a clear change of this, at least according to the interview above and the quote Frank pulled out of it. However, thanks for offering, I'll get back at you to properly thank you. :)

Hi Iva, I was on vacation, so I could not answer you two weeks ago..

Well, the last question that Michael got in this interview was what we have to expect from Hallogallo 2010. First he answers by telling something about the spirit of the whole project. Then he lists the permanent members of the group, which will play the concerts in 2010. And then Michael says that he WILL integrate friendly musicians like John and Josh on occasion..
I do not want to make any promises, that "purely-John-fans" could be disappointed eventually. But Michael speaks about 2010, so the occacion he tells of could only take place in 2010..
I can not really describe it in English, but he seems to be quite confident with John and Josh.

However, Michael Rother himself is worth enough to go to these concerts ;) Don't rely on John too much - I think towards Michael and the other musicians it's not fair to attend their concerts just because of John and to be dissapointed in the end ;)
