It's here! As of today, if you have purchased Speed Dealer Moms' very first single, it should be available for download in either .mp3 or .wav format. And, naturally, if you have not pre-ordered it, you can get the downloads now or pre-order the single which will be out in a short while, due to a previously explained delay. The vinyls will most likely be sent out after the holiday season, so keep an eye on your mailboxes in January.

Speed Dealer Moms

Speed Dealer Moms - Aaron Funk, John Frusciante and Chris McDonald (l-r)

The track listing of this single is, as follows:

  1. Side A: March_Three-3 (06:35)
  2. Side B: March_Four (10:04)

Upon ordering it or, if you have pre-ordered it, go to my downloads page and it should show up right there. You have three downloads per item. The mp3 version should weigh about 38 Mb and the FLAC one about 633. The downloads aren't particularly fast, so do have patience.

For those of you who have heard it and have an open mind that does not bind musicians to the genre you first found about them through, how do you like it? Which track do you prefer: March_Three-3 or March_Four? Would you dance to this? ^_^

UPDATE FOR THOSE HAVING PROBLEMS: If there was an error regarding security certificate when you were ordering, that should be fixed now. Should you have any other problems, respond here and I'll make sure to let the relevant people know about it, so your problem could be fixed. Just make sure you're using planet.mu and not planet-mu.com. If that's all too complicated for you, you can buy the tracks from Bleep.com as well.

  2. James says:

These songs are insane, what a trio seriously. Probably Some of John's and Funk's best work I think, you would of never dreamt of a collaboration like this, truly amazing. Hope they release an album.

  3. Anna says:

    is that a new pic?

    • Pat says:

yes, but isnt he much more than a pretty face?

been grovin to these all day. awesome, awesome stuff. better than swahili whatstheirname.

  4. Chris G. says:

I can't download for some reason, it just says all the time that some error occurred :(

  5. Iva says:

Can you, please, specify at what step does the problem occur? Does it happen when you're buying the tracks or after you've bought them and are downloading them? It would also help to know what browser and what version of that browser you're using and what your Internet settings have been set to.

I will gladly forward the error report to Planet Mu, but you have to be a bit more specific.

    • Chris G says:

It happens after I've punched in my credit card number and clicks on "verify order" - I can write the mail myself if it's too much trouble, but the strange thing is also that I've created an account on the mail that I also provided here, but I never received a confirmation or activation email. If I try to create a new account, I get the message that "an account associated with that email already exists.".

I was at my brother's place when I tried to download it at first, but the account problem also occurred at my own home.

  6. kimer says:

Interesting songs! i fully appreciated them after 3rd or 4th listen, there's so much happening in the background and that sounds are just insanely outside space. i hope that they will release more songs and i would love to see them live =]

  7. Steve says:

Don't get me wrong, these songs are interesting, but I cannot sit around and listen to this. This is not the John Frusciante we all know. he is heading in a unique direction... I really hope he puts out something with more guitar and actual songwriting soon because what he is capable of doing with a guitar is far more unique than any of this techno/experimental stuff. But its always good to hear him.

    • CMD313 says:

When you say "we", you probably mean "I".

While we might not be comfortables with all his choice, he should not ask for our approvals.

    • AtAnAnd says:

First of all, big thanks to Iva for everything.

Second of all, I totally agree. There seems to be an attitude on this site that if you don't fall head over heels for everything John does you're not a real fan, or you don't appreciate his music as much as the person to your left - this really came out in the wake of The Empyrean; anyone that objectively listened to those songs and offered legitimate criticism was dismissed out-of-hand by the "True Fans" (copyright pending) as somehow lesser music-listeners. Basically, what I'm trying to say is The Empyrean was awful and so is this, but at least the Empyrean was bad in the right direction.

  8. supes616 says:

Even though this isn't the type of music i enjoy listening to, I'm glad John is releasing music he loves, and music that at least some of his fans can appreciate. I hope in the future he releases something along the lines of The Empyrian, but for now its just cool to see that new material is available. John is an incredible musician; sometimes its just a little difficult to keep up with his current musical interests.

  9. Lauren says:

Although I was very disapointed when the song clips were released a while ago, I listened to the full songs on youtube and LOVE them! However, when you go to buy the mp3's from their website, it says the website has a certificate error. There's no way I'm submitting my credit card number to an unsecure website, and I don't have a record player, so I'm not going to buy it from Amazon. Any ideas as to how to get the mp3's safely and legally?

    Thanks.

    • Lucy says:

Same security issues here. Tried a few times and keep getting the message that it's unsafe, that a different address was issued with the security certificate. Ditto, don't have facilities for vinyl and do want to buy these legally. It's so frustrating.

  10. Chris G says:

Big shoutout to Iva for sorting out my technical problems.

    Thanks! <3

  11. Lindsey says:

Much to my surprise, these songs have really grown on me since the first time I heard the clips. At first listen, I had a "what on earth is this" reaction, but once I gave them another try they really started to grow on me. Still not exactly my type of music, and I haven't bought/listened to the full tracks, but I'm gaining more of an appreciate for the clips.

  12. Alexandra says:

I'm really impressed with it. I love it. It's the best thing he's come out with since The Empyrean in my opinion. Very nice. I hope they make a full album.

  13. Dan says:

I'm still waiting for the physical release I ordered to come and will wait until then to hear the song. Glad to see everyone is enjoying them though, I knew (well I hoped), that once they were released in their entirety they'd be able to be more appreciated. Hope the vinyl comes soon :D

  14. Dan says:

oh yes and I must say a sincere thank you to Iva for posting all the news she does about projects like this as without it I wouldn't have probably known they were releasing this music, so thanks!

  15. Baro says:

I don't like this. I enjoy electronica, but this sounds too chiptune for me to be able to stand it.

  16. leakeg says:

Chip tune, haha, you can't be listening very well!

Great tunes here, IMO, I can understand that some people won't dig, but just because it's electronic or there's no singing doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a chance!

  17. DoctorZod says:

FAT. Reminds me of Squarepusher and Aphex Twin.

  18. Chris G says:

So, what's the difference between planet.mu and planet-mu.com? I'm pretty sure I ordered from the .com one... failboat?

  19. Dan says:

amazon.com lists the vinyl as being released 18th Jan now...i'm determined to wait before I listen to it though :o )

  20. sangachin says:

I'm a huge John fan. I've been listning to his solo stuff for over a decade now, and i love all of it, but seriously this is garbage. People who call this music is ignorant. I love john, and i have even tattoed his name on my arm, but the way he's been acting the past year, the stuff that he's done (swahili blonde) is seriously so bad i'm actually embaressed. What a waste of talent. And i know a lot of you have the same opinion, people are just afraid to admit it. I've kinda just lost the whole John "mood" I used to have.. it's a shame :(

    • Anna says:

      i agree.

now what are you gonna do with that tattoo? ;)

    • Iva says:

While there's no use discussing tastes (or, as our old Latin friends would've said, de gustibus non disputandum est ), it is extremely unrealistic to expect a person to be blindly faithful to how you depicted them.

Also, there's a large difference between being a fan and being a fan of being a fan and addicted to being a fan. Both of these also differentiate from ceiling fans.

Afraid to admit you don't like something? People are allowed to say whatever they want, but if the second part is similar to the second part of what you said, they might end up looking bad. Really bad.

    • Marco says:

Embarrassed of music someone else's done with someone else? I don't understand. It's not like people are going to point at you and say: "Good grief! That person listens to John Frusciante whose recent projects were sooo not what the world would expect from John Frusciante because there's a postulate and also a codex stating what John Frusciante should look like, act like and what his music should be like.

      Logical, innit?

I should watch out for my public image, I just commented on a site about embarrassing John Frusciante. If my wife, friends and boss find out, my life is ruined.

    • Dan says:

So bad its almost troll like ?

  21. Great! I was waiting for this, Im a big fan of John & I like Venetians snares too (I like other electronic stuff more, like aphex twin or Boards of Canada)
Sangchain: Obviously you dont like electronic music! Music is a very broad thing.

  22. Mike says:

Can't wait for my vinyl, this is so badass.

  23. Dan says:

    sangachin's comment I meant..

  24. dfdjk says:

Still waiting on vinyl.... I ordered mine from planetmu, but I see that it's status is now unknown on Amazon.... can we just get the fucking record, already???? I ordered mine quite a while ago at this point.... Has anyone gotten the vinyl yet?

    • Iva says:

      A-a-a-ah! No flame, please. :)

I'll email Planet Mu to see what's happening. My guess is that yet another test pressing didn't turn out well; which would make sense, as John and Aaron are aiming for top quality.

  25. timz says:

    hi iva,

is there any reaction to the email that you sent to planet mu ,about the vinyl that has not appeared yet?

    • Iva says:

I have not opened my email in a week, but I'll open it today, so I'll send that email.

I'm not kidding at all, that's my way to finish work without being pushed...and when I say work, I mean real work.

    • dfdjk says:

In the forum someone said the new date is March 1st.

  26. Dan says:

Would of been thoughtful of planet mu to email those who bought the vinyl to give them some sort of expecting date, its been so long I actually forgot I ordered the vinyl !
