2005 was also the year when Red Hot Chili Peppers started working on their ninth solo album. As it was stated in many interviews, all the band members were freshly in love, and that was boosting the recording process and making the creativity blossom. They said they'd written three albums worth of songs. Eventually, the final cut was made and the album titled Stadium Arcadium, scheduled for May 2006. John played an even bigger part than usual in creation and finalisation of this recording, and his influence on the band's sound is now more than obvious. The album was preceded by enormous media campaigns all over the world, like no other RHCP effort beforehand. There were promotional shows in USA and western Europe, the guys gave the start sign for the NASCAR Allstar race, and the first single off the album, Dani California, featuring a humorous video of rock history where the band members were dressing up according to eras, was a major worldwide chartbuster, as well as the third single, Snow ((Hey Oh)). The Intergalactic tour kicked off and in many cases, additional shows had to be scheduled.

His usual grunge-outfit containing of flannel shirts and T-shirts was briefly replaced by suits with ties. He participated in a controversial photo session, where he posed as Jesus Christ on the cross and as Lucifer with horns, for acclaimed British photographer Ross Halfin. His guitar playing was at its best and - according to many crticis - he was surpassing the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page. More and more interviews and tabs were appearing in the magazines and, on a couple of occasions, John also gave video lessons on how to play Under The Bridge and Dani California. Even though he was immensely busy with the RHCP worldwide tour, he also contributed guitar parts to all songs but one on The Mars Volta's album Amputechture. Omar Rodriguez-Lopez himself was not ready to play, so he taught John to play his instrumental parts instead.

Regarding the worldwide tour itself, John was given a lot more space for boombastic intro, outro and interlude improvisations than ever before, and he was covering a whole number of new songs, likely dedicated to his girlfriend at the time. Those songs included For Emily (Wherever I May Find Her) by Simon & Garfunkel, How Deep Is Your Love by the Bee Gees, Cat Stevens' How Can I Tell You and The Shireless' Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?. These songs would now last for more than a minute and a half, the crowd would wave their mobile phones and lighters to the sound and John was always greeted with an enormous applause. In fact, at some shows people were also seen singing his backing vocals, rather than Anthony Kiedis' lead ones; and it was often much harder to get a spot at the right side of the stage than in its very centre. It was clear, the former bedroom teenage guitar prodigy was now a mature, respected man; with an unique way of singing and playing guitar.

This interview was later published in the September/October issue of the magazine and it is very insightful, as it describes John's dedication to how music is recorded and it shows his knowledge on, to some people obsolete, analog methods of recording, modular synths and custom-made equipment. Right after this interview took place; Red Hot Chili Peppers scored the album of the year Grammy award and the whole world witnessed John coming to the microphone first and thanking everyone. The same month, he appeared on the second Rolling Stone cover within a year period; as one of the three new guitar gods, alongside John Mayer and Derek Trucks. In his spare time, he was working on a new solo album and it was only known that orchestral arrangements will be featured on it.

Red Hot Chili Peppers' world tour continued and, in one of the shorter breaks, they played at the third annual Hullabaloo, where John surprised the crowd with a particularly aggressive and memorable intro. The person who recorded it, as well as many viewers, said that they have never seen such a thing in their lives. A similar intro also opened RHCP's performance at Green Fest in Serbia, a show visited by 100 000 people, which remained memorised for John's extremely touching rendention of ABBA's classic SOS and the show itself abruptly ending after only 80 minutes, as the virtuoso was very ill that day. Obviously, as the tour was coming to an end, being in public eye was becoming tiring for the whole band again. The tour finally ended on 26th August in Leeds, UK; and before the band came on stage, John gave a long, memorable speech where he thanked the band's crew and supporters for being with them during the last year and half. After the tour's end, John briefly withdrew from the public eye, probably to have some peace after having been the centre of attention for such a long period of time. This also marked the beginning of a hiatus for RHCP, a hiatus of an indefinite length.

In 2008, John has appeared on yet another Mars Volta record, Bedlam In Golliath, where his playing can be heard through the left speaker on all of the songs. His singing and lyrics can also be heard on Omar Rodriguez-Lopez's solo album, Calibration..., in the song Glosa Picaresca Wou Men. Solo career-wise, he was quietly working on his 10th solo album, which he started making in 2005 and which was supposedly re-recorded and re-mixed more than once. John was also occasionally joining Los Angeles underground musicians on stage and he's mixed the album of his ex-girlfriend's underground ambiental band, Warpaint. He's playing guitar on the newest RZA and Wu Tang Clan efforts; and he also appeared on George Clinton's newest album with the rest of the Peppers. On 04th September, alongside Flea, Josh Klinghoffer and Stella Mozgawa of Mink, he participated in a beautiful 45-minute improvisation at the Los Angeles' famous club Troubadour. Following months of rumours, on 11th November 2008, it was finally announced that his new solo album, The Empyrean would be released in January 2009. On the same day, John's official website came back, in form of a personal weblog. Early in 2009, The Empyrean is in the process of being released all around the world and the weblog is often updated with interesting scoops into the album's concept and random notes. John was also set to perform at the 2nd Bang Face Weekender in Camber Sands, UK; with Venetian Snares, as a duo called Speed Dealer Moms, but the performance was cancelled a couple of hours before it took place, due to a problem with gear.

In October 2009, it was reported that Red Hot Chili Peppers are rehearsing in an unnamed location in Los Angeles. There hadn't been an official confirmation of this and the media was full of notes that the line-up might have changed. After MusicRadar published some rumours, on 16th December 2009, in a blog entry, John confirmed that he had actually left Red Hot Chili Peppers one year beforehand. Soon afterwards, the Red Hot Chili Peppers appeared with Josh Klinghoffer as their new guitarist, though there was never an official confirmation.

In 2010, John continued working on Speed Dealer Moms whose first EP is expected in December 2010 and he contributed his guitar and backing vocals for the afro-beat project, Swahili Blonde; having also appeared at their maiden show in Los Angeles, which marked his first live performance in almost two years. Two more collaborations with Omar Rodriguez-Lopez also saw the light of the day. Collaborations with the Wu-Tang family and, most recently, Share Watson/Truth Hurts was added to the bill. An official biography of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, co-authored by the late Brendan Mullen hit the stores in late 2010. In 2011, the first Speed Dealer Moms release, a limited edition self-titled EP saw the light of the day. Late in July, John married his long-term girlfriend Nicole Turley in a private ceremony.

However, that exactly is the most fascinating thing about John Frusciante - whatever he's doing at the moment, it appears to be unique, ethereal and timeless. Who knows what is waiting for him around the corner? Whatever he decides to do; he was, he is and he will be one of the most charismatic people on the pages of music history being currently written all across the world.
