He’s soloing on the track titled Prends-Moi (Take Me), which is listed as number 5 on the album. You can hear the track here. • Swahili Blonde - Psycho Tropical Ballet Pink

John on new Swahili Blonde song, Etoile De Mer

Swahili Blonde camp is apparently working on a new album titled Psycho Tropical Ballet Pink, which is set for release sometime in August this year. The first track, Etoile De Mer (that’s starfish in French) has just been posted onto their Bandcamp page and it has a very, very summer cocktail tropical beach vibe to it. John’s contributed a guitar to it, to our great pleasure, despite not being a band member anymore. Have a listen and enjoy it, by all means. Etoile De Mer by Swahili Blonde *Many thanks to Travis for news – that’s why Invisible Movement had it first.

  • Omar Rodriguez-Lopez & John Frusciante Japanese release CD + keychain

Omar Rodriguez Lopez & John Frusciante now on CD

The collaboration self-titled album of Omar Rodriguez Lopez & John Frusciante which was digitally released for charity earlier this year and scheduled for a physical release in Japan was out this week in the said country and it (un)expectedly ended up on Amazon Japan’s besteseller list as #2 in the Music > Alternative Rock and #22 in Music > Rock section. While this might be unimportant to the artists themselves, it sure is important for their listeners and it shows that the country on those islands over there has some good taste in alternative music! And what’s in there for you? Well, the album will be available in USA and…

  • Omar Rodriguez-Lopez & John Frusciante Japanese release CD + keychain

Japanese label to release Omar Rodriguez-Lopez & John Frusciante on a CD

If you have not got yourself a limited-edition vinyl of the Omar Rodriguez-Lopez & John Frusciante collab album and if you had no idea that the digital version silently went from free to no longer free; there’s no need to despair – it’s being exclusively released on a CD through a Japanese label on 15th December. It all started with this particular tweet made by Eri Nakanishi of Spectacles Records. They later clarified that the album is not being released through their label, but Sleepwell (sister label of Daymare). You can alreadypre-order the album through the distribution network the label is using. The red button is used to add it…

  • Share Watson, John and RZA are collaborating – she’s honoured!

This just in. The talented R&B lady Share Watson aka Truth Hurts, whom you might know from her 2002 hit “Addictive” is a huge fan of John’s equipment. She apparently wound up in his home studio somehow…wow, this sure looks interesting. The photo posted on Twitter by a friend of hers (originally on Plixi) is what she said she’ll be RTing all day. To see it in a slightly bigger format, click on the thumbnail. The caption for the photo was: @TruthHurtsInc and some equipment that blew my freakin mind This is what she said on her Twitter account in four consecutive messages: I think I’m gonna be RT’n that…

  • Michael Rother on tour – no John, but he’s involved in future plans

In a lengthy video interview with German editing of Rolling Stone, Michael Rother is talking about his upcoming USA, Mexico and Europe Hallogallo 2010 tour, where his back-up band will consist of Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth fame on drums and Aaron Mullan of Tall Firs, presumably handling the guitar duties. But mr. Rother also reveals other musicians, like John and Josh Klinghoffer will be integrated in this project on occasion. There’s no word on what the occasion is, but knowing more about it and knowing that it is still an option, after a news or two on it last year, is great. You can find the tour dates on…
