Rumours

  • John Frusciante and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez in 2005

John works on something ‘epic’, has 300-400 uned. songs, Omar says

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez shares more information on what John's up to. In short: he's got about 300-400 unedited songs recorded from, presumably, 2008 on; they're mindblowing, a mix of rock and electronic music. He's not ready to put them out for the world to hear until a certain point in time, but once he does, it will be mind blowing. Confusing? Promising? Both, we'd say!

  • Solo album rumours are unclear, so hold your horses!

Since there are some rumours about the 11th solo album going, this post was pretty much necessary. Yesterday, our friend Wesley asked Share Watson if she’s working with John on tunes for his new album. The response was: RT @wesleyredhot: @TruthHurtsInc You can tell if John is recording a solo album? Have any chance of < He IS!The song we did is for his album The comment was then posted in the comments of the previous news item. In a matter of minutes, the whole JF and RHCP community was exploding with rumours, some websites took it way too far and made it look incredibly important; so Invisible Movement addressed…

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers might get their own Guitar Hero game

This will, from what I understand from people who bother enough to play video games, be interesting to both aspiring musicians and various kinds of armchair enthusiasts and couch potatoes. Gaming website Kotaku reports that Red Hot Chili Peppers might get their own Guitar Hero game. According to details from a survey forwarded to Kotaku, Activision appears to be gauging interest in a Guitar Hero: Red Hot Chili Peppers concept. Similar to previous games that highlight rock bands like Metallica, Van Halen and Aerosmith, the Red Hot Chili Peppers branded version is pitched as highlighting the band’s greatest hits and songs from guest artists chosen by the headlining band. “Celebrate…

  • Sammy Hagar mentions RHCP’s plans in a Chickenfoot interview (sort of)

Sammy Hagar, nowadays’ frontman of Chickenfoot, that Chad Smith’s also in, has given a (possible) clue on RHCP plans in a Billboard interview. Currently finishing up its debut mini-tour playing clubs, Chickenfoot is set to make its national television debut on during the first week of Conan O’Brien’s “Tonight Show” on Friday June 5. The band then starts looking ahead to a month-long European jaunt beginning June 20 in Austria before returning stateside for a full North American run slated for August and September. Hagar says the group will then take a break while Smith returns to the Chili Peppers to presumably work on recording that band’s next studio effort.…

  • Woodstock co-founder Michael Lang is seeking sponsors for 40th anniversary concert

According to numerous media who have reported this during the last couple of days, Michael Lang, the co-founder of the legendary plans for a 40th anniversary Woodstock concert are “all speculative ideas” for now, but he hopes to bring them to reality this summer. He’s very ambitious, as he wants an environment-friendly festival, with as little carbon emission as possible. At the same time, he would not charge admission to the event and therefore he’s seeking sponsors. Here’s what else he told Billboard and how they commented on his idea – without stating any of the recent rumours, only reflecting on 1999. Lang said that musically a 2009 Woodstock would…

  • Short news bits – RHCP rumoured for a festival & an outtake

I have noticed that nobody is really reading the “elsewhere” section, so here’s a classic post with short news, while we’re waiting for something I mentioned last week. RHCP on a festival in Vegas next year? As reported by Vegas Tripping, Dave Peters, formerly of The Alarm, is intending to put together a Live Aid-style charity festival in Las Vegas in 2009. It would be called Vegas Rocks and the rumoured line-up would be Guns’N’Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stone Temple Pilots, Motorhead, The Damned and The Alarm. [1] An outtake from Hillington Mind interview You can find a bit that won’t be in the Hillington Mind interview at this…

  • I******* stands for Imperium!

This topic contains misspelled album name. Look for the newer news items for an explanation, the album is called The Empyrean, as it’s stated in one of the comments on this. Thanks! What you’re reading as this news update’s title is the word I did not want to reveal to any of you for the past four months, due to respect for Armando Ruiz’s last wish and firmly believing that John did not mean to reveal it to public at that point. In case some of you are still not familiar with the story; Armando was a 20-year-old RHCP and John fan from San Diego and he had leukemia. Two…

  • Number ten is getting closer and closer.

The following news is coming from a source that is NOT official, but the source guarantees that it’s true. However, do calm down before this is confirmed. A person who would like to stay anonymous spoke to John this month and had an opportunity to hear some of the future solo album, the one people often refer to as “Solo X” and here is the info on what the album will be like. There are ten songs, one of which is an instrumental and one of which is a cover song. “John is singing like never before”. There is only one word in its title. So, I hope this will…

  • The new solo album is cooking, confirmed by the label

Record Collection Music seem to have their website working again and this is what it says: John Frusciante is finally back from just over 2 years of touring. Hearing whispers that John has been working on a new album. Unfortunately we have no solid details to give. For everyone who’s into speculation, putting pieces together and blablayaddayadda, these are the other things friends of Invisible Movement and I have (not) found out so far: The yet-to-be-titled album is supposedly mastered According to Ryan Hewitt’s page Tape Op article
