  • John on one of his favourite 2004 albums…

In a recent magazine article, John reveled which was one of his favourite albums released in 2004. He also mentioned one which is yet to be released. “The Björk album,Medulla, really astoundsme:the things she is doing with vocals – there’s never been anything like it on a pop record. She’s doing whole songs that have so much in common with 12 tone Syrian music and very little in common with anything else in the rock music section. Frusciante shows he is a rare musician that is able keep place in one of the biggest bands in the…

  • John as a guest on TMV’s album

(Thanks to Rania for showing me the link, taken from drownedinsound.com) The album [ Frances The Mute, by The Mars Volta] was recorded all over the place, from Byron Bay to New York City. Yet despite the disparate surroundings it was recorded in, Frances The Mute sounds utterly coherent and fully realised. Yes, it’s essentially one, long song drawn out over some six tracks, many of which are then divided into different parts again. Actually, it’s all a little Yes, isn’t it? For those that care about such things, it features guest appearances from Larry Harlow on piano and Flea on trumpet, as well as fellow Chili John Frusciante on…
