Welcome to the 12th edition of Saturday questions. This one was likely to be skipped due to circumstances, but since Speed Dealer Moms are performing tomorrow and not today...why not?

This one is pretty broad. It can be about music, so all the usual suspects who eat, drink and breathe music would have something to say; but it can literally be about anything. And I hope you'll all enjoy it.

Let's imagine that you have the power of the mind to do anything, for a while.
You can invent one thing, a couple of things...up to five.
What are you inventing, what's its purpose and what does it do?

17 Reactions to Saturday question #12: Invent something!

  1. iago says:

A time machine! And i will stop Hendrix, bonham, Morrison and Janis Joplin from doing all the things they were doing so the don't die. and i'll stop Kiss from making a disco song.

    That should be fun (:

  2. mADAMe says:

i will build a time machine, too, to prevent iago from stopping Hendrix, bonham, Morrison and Janis Joplin from doing all the things they were doing so they could make all these great albums they did.

    • iago says:

i was not clear sorry... i meant all the things they were doing that caused their deaths, like drinking getting stoned and that. :)

    • CMD313 says:

I would rather have living people than dead people's music. Insensitive.

      • Arlo says:

But, actually it's good that they died.

        • CMD313 says:

Any sane explanation for that? If not, do not bother.

          • Arlo says:

            In a way it is.
You see, if they didn't die, they wouldn't be rockstars. Like, they'd be seen as old people. Now, dying young at the tip of their success is what kept them (and possiby made them even more) famous. You see what I mean?

  3. chickenbot says:

i would go back in time and film the peppers playing a show in 1991, that's it

  4. Katherine says:

Tardis - A time machine and space ship so to say (Doctor Who fans know.) I'd love to be able to travel back in time, into the future, to Mars, another solar system, the edge of the universe, and anywhere and any place.

Weather Machine - Be nice to have snow on my birthday or the middle of August or for a week. We get snow maybe one good day. And it's like an inch (2.54 cm) or a little over it. You have to get out there and play in it before it stops and the sun comes out (usually later in the day or if the next morning).

Sonic Screwdriver (Another nifty tool from Doctor Who) - No more getting locked out of my vehicle. No more worrying about being stuck in Auburn with a dead battery. No telling what else I could use it for.

Hydrogen/Nuclear Power - Just thinking about the possibilities of having renewable energy is nice. I'd like to see hydrogen and nuclear power perfected. Show people that it's not this big bad "wolf."

Maybe some new quantum relationship - Woo, I'm in the physics books now! Physics hasn't been the nicest to me, but I've been surviving it. It's interesting. Well, I'd probably be in the books if any of the inventions were made.

    • Iva says:

I totally love these ideas, apart from the fourth one which scares me. OK, it partly scares me. I think hydrogene could probably be used in the ways good old Nikola Tesla had in mind, as long as there's a way to isolate its flamability (thinking of everything, from random explosions in chemistry experiments in schools to Hindenburg! ). I guess I have a fear of nuclear energy and somehow, my country still has that old ban on building nuclear power plants going on (the same way e.g. Switzerland has a ban on car races!)

The first one sounds really cool, but it would be something that could possibly backfire on people. Four years ago, in my first-ever freelance, I was translating a 40-page document for someone working in police, the bloody thing was in English, German and Russian and there were stories about people who kept on saying that there are a couple of weather change stations in the world.

  5. shalhevet says:

i would build a time machine too. i would warn people about the global warming and stop the polutions and make all the people to go green. and cars will be hybrided. and i would destroy all the nuclear weapon in the world and the plans how to make it. and save all the animals and plants from instinction.

  6. Allen says:

    I would invent :

An Invisible Guitar-Its Real But You Cant see it.That would give ''air guitaring'' a new meaning

A Superhero-A Superhero? why not? we need someone to save the day all the time.

The Worlds Biggest Stadium-Just A GIANT stadium only for live concert's.

    A Stereo No-one Can Hear-
A huge stereo that only the owner could hear. This means you could
play your music as loud as you want without head phones and without annoying the neighbours.

A Super Cure Drug-Some sort of medicine that cures everything from cancer to addiction
    or even a bad cough.

    • halcyon says:

a stereo that no one can hear but you! that would be so so useful and great !
i'm already imagening myself playing guitar as loud as i want without the neighbours problem. at any time i want ! PLEASE SOMEONE INVENT THIS !

  7. halcyon says:

    - a device that would allow you to hear someone's thoughts.

    - a healthy replacement for the drugs. (for example, you drink a moisture of juices and that would leave you high without damage your heath and the addiction.)

    - a teleport machine.

    - a musical instrument that project images in the form of holograms according to your playing. (and the instrument must be able to "read" your emotions as well as creating patterns with the things that you're doing, such as intervalic relations, harmonies, rhythm, how hard you are playing, etc...)

    - a satellite or some kind of space object that slows down the rotational movement of the earth, allowing us to have more day/night time.

    • Meredith says:

I love all of yours but I would add the silent stereo to the owner and anyone else I would want to hear what I was playing

  8. zabar says:

I would invent myself seeing Speed Dealer Moms tonight. Hardi-har-har!

(If you don't get it, never mind.)

  9. Jamie says:

I would create a time machine to brag about all of the Physics i know to the cavemen who would just stare back blankly

I would also try and get into all of the awesome music and guitarin i like now back when i was littler hopefully not changing the things i write

Apart from time machine related topics i would create a machine/something that lets you listen to music in surround sound (in your mind) but still hear people trying to talk to, it would solve a lot of problems
