Guy Oseary interviewed over 150 artists, songwriters, directors and publishers on their favourite records, success tips et cetera. John’s interview is one of the longest and best ones in the book. Anthony Kiedis is also featured.

Jim McMullan and Dick Gautier’s follow-up to the successful Actors as Artists book. John is one of the featured artists, with three paintings; one of which was a collaboration between him and then-toddler Clara Balzary; whom he also listed as his favourite artist.

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ official biography written by Brendan Mullen, who passed away before he got to finish it. It chronicles everything upon mid-2009 and contains a lot of never-before-seen photographs.

Tony Wooliscroft looks back on 20 years of photographing the Red Hot Chili Peppers, with foreword by Chad Smith. There are some anecdotes from various concerts and recording sessions, too.

Anthony Kiedis’ tell-all biography, co-written by Larry Mullen, mostly concerning women and drug-related escapades…however, it features a lot of interesting things related to the Red Hot Chili Peppers as well and a dozen or so of John-related anecdotes.

Bob Forrest’s memoir, focusing on the LA indie life of his youth, with a lot of mentions of other artists, including John.

Jake Brown’s book, chronicling record producer Rick Rubin’s meteoric rise in the music industry. The focus is on Red Hot Chili Peppers’ albums.

Late Brendan Mullen wrote a biography of Jane’s Addiction and Perry Farrell. John appears throughout it and this is probably the clearest depiction of his drug-addled days in the 1990s.
