Feeding Back - Conversation with Alternative Guitarists, by David Todd

Guy Oseary – On the Record

Guy Oseary interviewed over 150 artists, songwriters, directors and publishers on their favourite records, success tips et cetera. John’s interview is one of the longest and best ones in the book. Anthony Kiedis is also featured.

Jim McMullan – Musicians as Artists

Jim McMullan and Dick Gautier’s follow-up to the successful Actors as Artists book. John is one of the featured artists, with three paintings; one of which was a collaboration between him and then-toddler Clara Balzary; whom he also listed as his favourite artist.

Other Books

These do not fit into the other two categories, but they still contain a lot of John-related snippets/anecdotes.

Whores: An Oral Biography of Perry Farrell and Jane's Addiction

Whores: An Oral Biography Of Perry Farrell And Jane’s Addiction

Late Brendan Mullen wrote a biography of Jane’s Addiction and Perry Farrell. John appears throughout it and this is probably the clearest depiction of his drug-addled days in the 1990s.

What books count here? So far, only those where John receives a lot of mentions or is featured, solo or with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
