American track and field athlete Anthony Famiglietti is featured in the New Music Mondays section of Runners' World. He made an iTunes playlist to showcase his favourite song and his taste is pretty interesting. His favourite musician happens to be...John Frusciante! One song off To Record Only Water For Ten Days and one off The Empyrean have made it to his selection.
"Representing" (Track 8):
"This song has a really unique sound that I like. When I first found this album, To Record Only Water for Ten Days. I listened to it every day for weeks."
"Song to the Siren" (Track 9):
"My number 1 pre-race song now. The lyrics and sound make me remember friends I've lost, and gives me a huge sense of purpose and meaning to everything I do."
And he also recommends a certain unreleased song:
"Every Light Will Burn"
This is an unreleased track for one of John's early albums. It's extremely hard to find. John is great, in that he saves and doesn't release some of his best songs. Later on you'll here about them or find them posted by his friends.
Runners' World staff also asked Famiglietti who are his favourite musicians and why. His taste seems to be pretty similar to the taste of a bunch of people here, which is interesting.
RW: Who are some of your bands or musicians, current or all-time?
"I'm a very big fan of John Frusciante. He's always at the top of my list. He's best known as the guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but his he has a massive collection of incredible solo albums. I guess the best way to describe John's style and sound is to say it's an acquired taste. The more you know about his story, personality, and virtuosity, the more you can appreciate his brilliance."The other bands I'm into are like John in that they all push the limits of music in new ways. Radiohead is one of my favorites. So is Jane's Addiction. They're currently on tour in the US - the first time in 18 years that they've reunited with all of the original band members. I highly recommend their live show."
You can read the rest of the article here, if you're interested. And, in case you don't remember, this was NOT the first time Famiglietti talked about John. Click here to go three years and two months back in time to see a similar article, from the same website.

Anyone know where to grab the song "Every Light Will Burn" ?!? I haven't heard that one!!
someone once created a Gmail account where you can log in and get the tracks. if you go to gmail.com you can log in and get it (TROWFTD demos -- it is called Every Light) among other goodies,
name: lowbirds
password: omission
I made that Gmail account back in the day when it was really difficult to host files online. Maybe this will be easier for people now: http://www.mediafire.com/?tyzczwmmin4
you have made my day - thank you very much!!!!!
Yeah, thanks man! Very nice of you to put that stuff up, I'm not really good at searching for this kind of stuff otherwise- computers aren't really my thing
, so this helps a lot!
won't work for mac
Hey...I doubt it's your computer in any way. Can you describe what the problem is so someone could help you?
One of the usual things that might be case:
1) You didn't download whole files.
2) You're opening them in your browser instead of downloading them.
I've got a mac, it worked for me, i just downloaded and unzipped- voila!
So you just probably missed a step when downloading!
Also, whenever you need personal help with something, it helps to input a REAL, WORKING email address.
"Every Light Will Burn" is aka "Untitled #10" from album "Outtakes And Unreleased Materials", am I right? At least that one I have in my collection and it is one of my favorites!!!
Turns out I did have it - as Untitled #10 from the demo disk! Thanks for the info anyways!!
oh yeah you are very nice for helping others
The dearth of news on RHCP or John is so annoying!!!
Thank you, Tyler!!! I recently discovered RHCP music and now thanks to Iva and all of you I have learned this new world of John Frusciante's music. It was a style I never would have appreciated on my own and am very grateful to the fans in allowing someone like me to discover something so beautiful.
