John’s involvement in “Little Joe” and brief film information
When information on John’s involvement in a documentary about Joe Dallesandro was published on this website a year and four months ago, it was fairly brief and it’s not like anybody paid attention. Now there’s more to it and there are reasons you should pay attention, so read on!
Joe Dallesandro is now 60-years old and leads a more or less quiet life, but back in the 1960, he was a protagonist of Andy Warhol and Paul Morrissey’s films and he’s known for being the first man in a full-frontal-nudity scene in a film. Later on, he was also starring in various films in Italy. Most of these are considered to be cult-classics and a couple of years ago, his step-daughter united with a friend whom she helped complete a thesis film at UCLA to create a documentary on his life, beyond what was he mostly known for – his body. For more information on mr. Dallesandro and what exactly is documented in Little Joe, check the links at the end of this news item.
In an interview with Canoe.ca, the film’s director, Nicole Hausser of Germany, is briefly talking about the film’s soundtrack and John’s delight to be involved in this project.
“The nicest thing was contacting all these people,†says Haeusser, who ended up with a wealth of donated footage and stills. “I didn’t find anybody who has one bad word about Joe. (Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist) John Frusciante, we really only wanted one song from him. And he just said, ‘Oh my God, anything for Joe!’ And that’s how we ended up with so many John Frusciante songs.â€
All the John songs used on this film’s soundtrack are, as well as those used for RZA’s upcoming film, existing ones. A total of 15 songs of his from four albums can be heard in Little Joe and they’re, as follows:
