Tiny bits of magazine articles related to John
Yes, yes, I know, it’s been unusually long since the last update. Life suddenly became interesting with one of my best friends and BBS moderator getting married, me having way too many exams and getting closer to actually be employed for the first time in my life. So, yes, thanks for your understanding and please, accept my apology. I am going to make some nice updates ASAP.
For the start, here are some related bits from magazines:
Here is a very interesting article about Musicians Insitute in Los Angeles and qualities of that insitution. John is mentioned as one of the famous, respected musicians who graduated from that school.
It’s always nice to see more fans. That’s why you should check this small survey-interview with Eric Hubbard, a massive John fan, even if you don’t know who he is.
In an article about the very extravagant songwriter/singer/guitarist Devendra Banhart, John is being mentioned as a musician with a similar style, yet, according to the people who wrote it, “darker” approach to music. Go here for further reading.
MTV.com has a feature about the works of some of the most notable music video directors. This one is about Mark Romanek who, among others, directed Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Can’t Stopvideo. Here’s a tiny bit of the article where John is mentioned:
What He’s Known For Behind the Scenes: Meticulous methodology: Five hundred calls to the LAPD re: the monstrous fireworks in Audioslaves’s “Cochise” video; clipping Beck with a car with faulty brakes and injuring his knee during a “Midnight Cowboy” take on the “I’m walkin’ here!” scene in “Devil’s Haircut”; inducing Trent Reznor to puke on the set of the “Closer” video due to the smell of rotten meat and having Reznor spinning upside down for too long; and almost prompting the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ sensitive John Frusciante to flee the set because of his obstreperous, forceful orders.
And, the last bit for now, here’s a story about who will be in the rock hail of fame, with a mention about John who recommended Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam for that…on which I absolutely agree.
