Reactions from all around the WWW

The web is pretty much buzzing with the news on the The Empyrean’s release, knowing that Red Hots are on a hiatus and that, suddenly, every single thing band members do are therefore somewhat sensational to the general public. So, here’s what the others are saying….often featuring a cynical approach to that *other* sensational news on the band for the week. What overshadowed what? You decide.

Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante has recruited his bandmate Flea and former Smiths’ guitarist Johnny Marr for his latest solo album, “The Empyrean.”
The disc is due January 20 via Record Collection. The Sonus Quartet and the New Dimension Singers also appear on the follow-up to 2005’s “Curtains.” Frusciante has released seven solo albums since rejoining the Chili Peppers in 1998.

He’s a member of Modest Mouse. He’s in cahoots with the Cribs. He’s a college professor. He recently remastered a bunch of his legendary old band’s songs for a new compilation. And yet, something about Johnny Marr’s schedule screamed to him, “Not busy enough!” Thus, Marr has filled the void in his creative life by getting involved in a variety of new projects.
First, Billboard.com reports that Marr contributed to Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante’s next solo album, The Empyrean. According to Billboard, the Sonus Quartet, the New Dimension Singers, and Chili Peppers bassist Flea also appear on the record, which comes out January 20 via Record Collection.

First and foremost I want to say that John Frusciante is a genius and extremely fuckin’ talented. Not only that but he is working on his eighth solo album and it is due out January 20th. It will include guest appearances by Red Hot Chili Peppers bandmate Flea, Johnny Marr, The Sonus Quartet and the New Dimension Singers. While Frusciante is making amazing music on the side, Anthony Keidis is bathing himself in his own ego and making an HBO series about his “Rock and Roll upbringing”. *Coughdouchecough*
