• Guitarist Magazine, March 2009 issue

John on the cover of March 2009 issue of Guitarist (UK)

John is on the cover of the March 2009 issue of the respected and longest-established UK magazine, Guitarist. The last time he was on the cover of this magazine, it was April 2004 (you can remind yourselves of it by looking at the scans and the article, btw!). In the article he’s discussing The Empyrean, the equipment used and comparing the album to previous releases. You can order the magazine by clicking here or on the preview picture. If anyone could send in scans, that would be amazing. A couple of people offered to do so, but as they’re not having luck with scanners, help would be MUCH appreciated. ^_^

  • N.A.S.A. album is released today – get it and/or download Way Down

As it was stated so many times, John is on a song called Way Down together with RZA and Barbie Hatch. You can buy the song by clicking here (it’s DRM free), download the whole album here and get the physical copy of the CD here. There is a LP as well, but it’s out on 10th March and it will contain a card for a free digital download. Many prominent guests and notable musicians are featured on the album, such as David Byrne, Karen O, the deceased Ol’ Dirty Bastard, George Clinton, Kanye West and Santogold, so make sure you check it out and make sure you remember what…

  • Two conceptual wallpapers for Invisible Movement visitors!

Given how beautiful Sarah Sitkin’s photos from The Empyrean covershoot were and how I just wanted to give you all a decent wallpaper. I’m not a fan of the last two I made, though some people should think twice before they send a rude comment to a person who’s actually in Adobe-approved college programme. So, coming up with something based on those photos that is deserving of the album’s beauty was too hard. What makes it extra hard is that there’s a whole palette of screen resolutions amongst the site’s visitors. I pulled the most common ones from Google Analytics. And so, I came up with two wallpapers in a…

  • Vintage Guitar Magazine, April 2009 – scanned and typed out.

Thanks to Biagio who took his time to scan the images in a good resolution, we can now enjoy the Vintage Guitar Magazine April 2009 issue interview with John. You can see all the pages in the gallery or hop to individual pages using the thumbnails below. 926879269192694 926979270092703 And the magazine is too big for a normal scanner, the pages were scanned bit by bit and I merged them as precisely as I possibly could. Of course, it’s not perfect. That’s just another reason to buy the magazine, as it’s totally worth it. As some people said on the board, this is the most-detailed article on John’s equipment in…

  • Translations, transcripts, lyrics translations and usually just a…

A quick note to everyone who’s using the RSS feed. Please, update the URI in your RSS readers. It’s http://feeds2.feedburner.com/invisible-movement now, note the 2. Feedburner has moved all of its clients to Google’s servers and from 01st March on, the old address will no longer be functional. I’m not sure if there’ll be any redirections. So, here are some nice updates, all related to The Empyrean, more or less. Transcripts & translations Wonderful Eleni finished the transcript of the Watt From Pedro show and you can read the rest from page seven on. It’s quite a lengthy read. Joh-un and his wife have completed some more of the Guitar Magazine…

  • Saturday question #2: Animals & Music

So, last week, we discussed music videos that exist only in our mind for now, moved by the guy who was brave and skilled enough to make his own video for Central. That discussion is still open and it will be for a couple months more, so feel free to have a look if you haven’t done so before. This week, we had a quite interesting discussion on the board started by Mary (repeatmonday); based on a couple of stories involving, well, John and cats and then there were many other cats and many other stories, including the anecdote from recording The Heart Is A Drum Machine and the last…

  • John on cover/featured in Vintage Guitar, April 2009 issue

John is on cover and featured in the April 2009 issue of Vintage Guitar Magazine. Here’s a little excerpt on this issue from their site: Best known for his work with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Frusciante thoroughly enjoys every aspect of making music, and continuously experiments with new and unusual ways to create it. As a teenager, Frusciante became interested in writing and recording his own music. He started making solo albums years ago, and with the luxury of having his own recording studio, Frusciante has combined personal recording techniques developed through experimentation with tricks of the trade learned from celebrated producer Rick Rubin. You can see some…

  • Chad Smith clarifies (not) the status of Red Hot Chili Peppers

(Oh boy, here it goes again.) Late in 2008, when MusicRadar staff spoke to Chad Smith, he said that RHCP were taking a year off and that he’s concentrating on his new all-star band, Chickenfoot. And then, early in January this year, there was the podcast featuring John who said something completely different. After the dust has settled, Joe Bosso of MusicRadar reportedly contacted Chad Smith again, who then said: “We’ve been on a break for a year and whatever,” Smith said. “I can’t speak for John – he’s doing his thing and hopefully he’s happy – but I think when we’re all ready to play again, when we feel…

  • An Unreachable wallpaper for the hump day!

For all of you who find Wednesdays quite boring for whatever reason, here’s another wallpaper…for those who like it dark, for those who like lyrics and meant to look different and kinda 3D depending on what side of the TFT screen you’re looking at from. I don’t know how it will look like on CRT screens, so that shall be a surprise. It was inspired by Unreachable. Click on the preview to be taken to its page. Once again, it’s in 1280×1024, because bigger is better. P.S. There are two much better wallpapers waiting to be seen by you somewhere in the depths of this computer. Look out for them…

  • John in Johnny Ramone article in Italian edition of Vogue

…just on a picture though, but why not mention this cause once again? This is an article from the January 2009 issue of Italian edition of Vogue, which was originally posted on Johnny Ramone Army website; but I translated it to English for visitors of Invisible Movement. It was written by Jo Champa. The photo supplied with the article is actually from the January 2005 revealing of the Johnny Ramone statue, and if you’re looking for the photos from the last year’s event, held on 01st August, head over to this entry and also, don’t forget to listen or read the interview Joe Escalente of now-internet-only Indie 103.1 Radio. Picnic…
