Darby Crash Tribute @ Whiskey A-Go-Go

Wednesday 20 · John Frusciante in Darby Crash Tribute

Los Angeles Current Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist and solo artist John Frusciante held a private show last night at the famous Whiskey A-Go-Go in Hollywood in honor of legendary Germs lead vocalist Darby Crash. Frusciante was backed by long time friend and fellow band member Flea on bass while Josh Klinghoffer of the Los Angeles based Bicycle Thief played drums. The 45 minute set included such Germs classics as “Richie Daggers Crime”, “Forming”, “Media Blitz”, and “Lions Share”. Among those in attendance were fellow Red Hot Chili Peppers Chad Smith and Anthony Kiedis, Virgin Suicides star Kirsten Dunst, Johnny Depp, Almost Famous star Kate Hundson with current boyfriend Chris Robinson of the rock band The Black Crowes, and ex Germs guitarist Pat Smear. “This is for Darby” Frusciante told the crowd before launching into “Media Blitz”. At the conclusion of the night Frusciante was joined onstage by ex-Germs guitarist Pat Smear for a very memorable version of “Richie Daggers Crime.” Thanks Sandy!!
