He’s usually classified as an Italian American and his last name means “rustling”, as it’s the present participle of the verb frusciare, which means to rustle. His paternal side of the family originates from southern Italy.
His height is about 178 cm or 5’10”. Google has it wrong. He has hazel eyes and dark brown hair. He’s always been somewhat thin.
As of 2011, he is married to musician Nicole Turley (born in 1981). They live together in Hollywood and have no children.
In the past, he had romantic relationships with the actress/model/musician Mila Jovović, socialite/poet/actress Stella Schnabel and singer/guitarist Emily Kokal known for fronting the band WarPaint. During his 20s, he was in a long-term relationship with a bohemian multi-talent named Toni Oswald.
He is quite fond of cats.
John is most famous to the general public as the former guitarist, lead composer and backing vocalist of the largely successful band, Red Hot Chili Peppers. He’d joined the band for the first time at the age of 18 in 1988, having been a big fan of theirs after his music instructor, who auditioned for the band, introduced him to their work.
John had a period where he was claiming not to be drinking, smoking or using drugs. Nowadays, he is smoking and drinking.
Yes, he has false teeth – they’re implants, not dentures.
His arms are badly scarred from – according to Bob Forrest’s autobiography – gangrene.
Prior to drug abuse, he had six tattoos on his arms.
