  • The Heart Is A Drum Machine on Amazon; featuring a 25 minute John interview!

After its release date was confirmed by its producer, Ryan Page; and as of today, also by Lightyear Entertainment (who explained that there might be a slight delay before it’s on their website – many thanks to Sky for the explanation); The Heart Is A Drum Machine is now available for pre-order on Amazon as well. So far, it’s only on the American site and you can pre-order it by clicking here. The DVD’s running time is 73 minutes and it’s been spiced up by awesome new cover art. Click the post thumbnail to enlarge it and see how good it is. But what is the best thing about this…

  • Manimal Vinyl announce their Bowie tribute – JF’s in it, too. And it’s for children!

Legendary British rockers Duran Duran have gone ahead and told the world they’re a part of the Manimal Vinyl tribute to David Bowie. And it’s not only them, there’s a line-up of mostly Manimal’s own artists, as well as some surprises. The album is expected to be out in May 2010, and tracks “will start leaking around 15th February” (nice dose of humour). Amongst the other songs on this album, as Invisible Movement found out earlier, thanks to how nice they are over there at Manimal, there will be Swahili Blonde’s cover of Red Money, where John can be heard both as one of the guitars and the backing vocal…

  • Elixor Fixor by Swahili Blonde on iTunes

Swahili Blonde’s “Elixor Fixor” is out on iTunes

Swahili Blonde’s first single, Elixor Fixor is out on iTunes as of yesterday – it was released a day earlier. You can click here to acquire it if there’s an iTunes store available for your country. Otherwise, give it a spin on the Myspace page. John’s guitar sounds mighty on this, so if you’re down due to all this craze, maybe that will cheer you up. The “newer” artwork was not used here, so it would be logical to assume it was intended for the 7″. • Missing Ataxia’s AWII in your collection? It’s been reissued, go get it!

Over the course of the last 12 months, many people wrote to Invisible Movement asking where they could buy the (apparently elusive) second Ataxia album, AWII. Knowing that back in the days, the number of physical copies of the album was pretty small, the possiblity of reissue probably wasn’t that big. However, it appears that EMI music Europe have reissued the album and that it can be purchased again! According to people who already got it from the second batch, the packing is better and the pressing was done in 2009, rather than 2007. So, if you never got a hold of AWII, you can get it from Amazon.co.uk as…

It was written by Chris Oliver, a long-term site visitor and the drummer/backing vocalist of Cody Stagefright, also the person behind The Solar System. Once I heard that…

  • N.A.S.A. album is released today – get it and/or download Way Down

As it was stated so many times, John is on a song called Way Down together with RZA and Barbie Hatch. You can buy the song by clicking here (it’s DRM free), download the whole album here and get the physical copy of the CD here. There is a LP as well, but it’s out on 10th March and it will contain a card for a free digital download. Many prominent guests and notable musicians are featured on the album, such as David Byrne, Karen O, the deceased Ol’ Dirty Bastard, George Clinton, Kanye West and Santogold, so make sure you check it out and make sure you remember what…

  • The Empyrean – a review

This review is going to be a bit less conventional, a bit more honest, a bit more personal. As a long-term casual listener of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, I discovered John’s solo work earlier in this decade, with “only” three officially released albums and some demos available at that point. Given that those were the good old days of 28.8 Kbps dial-up, I stumbled upon songs’ lyrics weeks before I actually had the albums in my hands. And some of them felt like stunning poetry. Later on, it turned out that such poetry fit perfectly with the harmony of the music. Either way, here I am after more than…

  • The Empyrean has been digitally released

As the most of you probably know, The Empyrean was meant to be released both physically and digitally today; but as we have learnt last week, an inevitable manifacturing error pushed the release of non-preordered items forward to 27th January, which is next Tuesday. However, the album has been released digitally today, it was announced on John’s Myspace, too; and you can get it from all major music stores, such as iTunes and Amazon.com, where it’s already at #48 in the digital downloads category, plus it’s DRM-free and you can play it on multiple devices. To remind you, this page holds a large list of places to get all versions…

  • More ways to acquire Japanese version of The Empyrean

For everyone who is more comfortable with ordering from an English-speaking website, it appears that the Japanese version of The Empyrean is available for pre-order on EIL.com. The price is slightly scary, but that’s the way it usually goes in Europe with Japanese imports. For those who have no problems with ordering from Japan and no paranoias associated to shipping things to the other side of the world, CDJapan has it a bit cheaper (thanks to Leni for the tip!).
