    If you follow this link, you can listen to a megamix of the tracks that will be featured on the NASA album. The last track in that megamix is the song John plays on, titled Way Down, also featuring RZA and Barbie Hatch.

  • John at a MusicaRes event with Josh and Dave Gahan!

    I was getting news on this before, but I didn’t know if I should put it online or not, as it seemed to be bogus, but…looks like it’s true. John will perform at a MusicaRes event tomorrow, at the Henry Fonda Theatre. On this page you will find a video clip where he’s rehearsing with Victor Indrizzo, Vincent Jones, Martyn LeNoble, Josh Klinghoffer and Dave Gahan. The “band” is apparently Gahan’s All Star Band. You will need QuickTime player to watch it. Here’s a sneak preview: Obviously, the actual event, although not listed on the MusicaRes site, is taking place later today.

    Texas prog-rockers the Mars Volta will embark on a North American tour opening for the Red Hot Chili Peppers this Friday in Portland, Oregon. But the bill isn’t the only thing the two bands are sharing. On the Mars Volta’s latest disc, Amputechture (due September 19th), guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez solicited his friend (and RHCP guitarist) John Frusciante to step in for him. “I’ve never thought of myself as a guitar player,” explains Rodriguez-Lopez. “I don’t like the guitar. The album is slated for a release through Strummer/Universal on August 15th in the US, and August 11th in Europe. The album was produced by Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and was mixed by Rich Costey.     NEW YORK (Billboard) – Former Jane’s Addiction/Porno For Pyros frontman Perry Farrell is finishing up work on the debut album from his new group, Satellite Party, which also features ex-Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt.
