• More photos from The Empyrean cover session (off-site link)

If you click on the preview image or here, you’ll be taken to Sarah Sitkin’s Bodies series on Dripbook.com. There are two new underwater angel photo of John, from the same photo session as the one shown earlier. The whole album is interesting as well…just watch out for full frontal male nudity on some models, if that’s not your piece of cake.

  • Guitar World, April 2009 issue -nothing new, but still cool

There’s a two page article on John in the April 2009 issue of Guitar World. Basically, the photos are from 2005 and 2007 and the article itself is an abridged version of the MusicRadar interview, which is pretty logical as both Guitar World and MusicRadar are owned by the same company. It appears that some of the questions asked in the first two parts of the interview were readers’ questions as well. So, I assume some people who might’ve thought their questions weren’t answered should have another look now that it’s clearer. Either way, for all of you who missed it or want it in a printed form, grab the…

  • A listener’s take at creating a video for Central + Saturday question #1

Andreas Yngvesson/BaconDude has created a music video for Central. It’s pretty interesting and unusual, so have a look! [flash http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4YutWM0n0Y] And, why not, since Saturdays are so quiet, let’s start a new tradition: a random question asked on Saturday, for you all to answer. This week’s (obvious) question: Would you create a video for any of these ten (twelve) songs yourself and if you would, what song would it be and how would it look like? Reply in comments.

  • The Empyrean gained positions on Billboard top 200 and Top Heatseekers

Last week, The Empyrean surpassed the success of 2004’s Shadows Collide With People by debuting as #190 on Billboard top 200 and #7 on Top Heatseekers. However, that’s not where the surprises end. According to the 14th February 2009 data, it’s now #151 on Billboard and the “greatest gainer” on Top Heatseekers, having jumped from #7 to #4 on only its second week on the list. You can view the list here or below. Now Last Weeks Peak 1 – 1 1 Ready For The Flood – Mark Olson & Gary Louris (New West) 2 2 28 1 Thriving Ivory – Thriving Ivory (Wind-up) 3 1 21 1 Hook Me…

  • A two-page article in February issue of Teraz Rock (PL)

There’s an article on John, two pages long, in the February 2009 issue of Polish magazine Teraz Rock with a pic from the Chorzow show in 2007; so if you live in Poland and think this is worth buying the magazine, go and grab it. If not, well, you can read it if you click on this picture preview. Many thanks to Michalina for having sent this. Also, if anyone could give a go translating this, that would be perfect; as she doesn’t have the time to do it at the moment. The article is mostly related to The Empyrean, the album’s personnel, the concept behind it, with a little…

  • Ryan Page discusses upcoming The Heart Is A Drum Machine

In an interview with AZ Central, Ryan Page, who directed the upcomong documentary The Heart Is A Drum Machine with Christopher Pomerenke; had only good words for John and his knowledge. Question: How did the film come about? Pomerenke: I kind of had the idea for talking about music in a grand way, a deep way that we have never seen or done before. Usually music documentaries are about specific people, about their careers, and we wanted to do something broader and get away from that. We got together and started to put together a big list of what we wanted to ask people. Page: We started shooting and it…

  • More from the highest point in heaven…

…OK, not literally. But it’s a cachy title for a news item with a bunch of updates. The release dates in the sidebar have been updated, according to some people’s suggestions. Given how this has been going on, I can only tell you that I HOPE they’re right. >_< Another thing in the sidebar has changed and it waits for your input. It's a rather obvious poll in which you can select up to three answers. The question is so predicable, that it hurts: what is your favourite song off The Empyrean? Thanks to Eleni Philos, the first part of 25th January episode of The Watt From Pedro podcast featuring…

  • January 2009 roundup and a recommendation

January is over and it’s been a pretty mad month overall. Whooping 103485 people have visited Invisible Movement and that number would’ve probably been even greater if there wasn’t for the server downtimes due to too much traffic and the day when the bandwidth was eaten within four hours. Either way, THANK YOU and six-digit kudos for this six-digit number of mostly wonderful people; thanks for dropping by. If you’re new and if you weren’t coming to this very corner of the web, welcome. Soooo…given that way too much was going on in January, I thought I’d present you all with a little compilation of all the interesting news and…

  • The Empyrean is on Heatseekers’ List and more…

This is a bunch of interesting curiosities; and though The Empyrean was probably not meant to be super-successful in “commercial” terms, it’s getting more successful than all of the previous John’s solo albums; despite being barely promoted, not yet reviewed by half of the mainstream press and reliable sites for reviews (e.g. Rolling Stone, Pitchfork) and, of course, without any singles and videos. I hope that this list is not offensive in any way, as it’s pretty cool to know these things. The Heatseekers’ list for 07th February 2009 published by Billboard has The Empyrean on 7th place and also marked as a “hot shot”. You can see the list…

  • The very first article about Speed Dealer Moms

This article is from Winnipeg Sun; Aaron Funk is talking about how he met John and how Speed Dealer Moms came to life. If you’re interested in reading more on Aaron Funk, have a look at this, too. This article has some not-so-positive comments on people’s interest in the newly-formed band, so be well prepared for it. You might not know who Aaron Funk is, but if you’re a music fan, you’ve probably heard of his new bandmate: Guitarist John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The L.A. rocker and the Winnipeg musician are the leaders of Speed Dealer Moms, an electronica outfit that grew out of their recently…
