John Frusciante “Inside of Emptiness” — From incoherent heroine addict to prophetic rock prophet, Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Frusciante is always on one kind of binge or another. Fortunately for us, he gave up the smack and is now focusing all his energies on creating some of the most painfully honest songs and solos of his career, releasing six albums in the span of a year. His latest is another emotionally evocative collection, but you’d be just as lucky to get “Shadows Collide with People, “The Will to Death,” his group Ataxia’s “Automatic Writing,” or anything else he’s put out in the last year. A true artist and a singer/songwriter who doesn’t let that title stifle him, Frusciante is a haunting talent. (TenPas)
