Apparently, the 22+ months of not having had the pleasure to hear and see John live are over. According to numerous reports on Twitter, he has taken the stage with Swahili Blonde for the instrumental track, Dr. Teeth. Some of us are apparently physics so they woke at the right moment to publish it here-as-it-happens. The others should probably not freak out about that and enjoy it. ^_^

Grimy Goods, who have previously given away tickets for this event, report:

Frusciante hits the stage with Swahili Blonde finally. You can hear it! But everyone is still very confused.

Swahili Blonde! Where's Frusciante? It's dark back here but dude does not look like him. Not even on our photog's shots.

Swahili Blonde: a lot of Buzz and that's it. Thanks for the one song Frusciante.(original tweet)

TerrorBirdMedia reports:

Aw, whoa. John Frusciante shows up for Dr. Teeth. (original tweet)

More information as soon as possible. Grimy Goods appear to have had a couple of words with John. Faithful Invisible Movementarians (that sounds like a creepy sect, but it isn't one) are on the location and everything's functioning well at the legendary headquarters of the gang in D* number 16, so stay tuned!

  1. anna says:

absolutely heartbreaking to see so much talent wasted...

stop with all that grass and the yokos, john. please.

  2. Cured says:

Very nice! I think John is now re-exploring a joy of experimentation ;)

  3. Guest says:

I was at the Echoplex for the Swahili Blonde show and it was one incredible show. Swahili Blonde is an amazing band, especially live. The only thing that bothered me was that people kept screaming for John the entire time. I'm sure Nicole and co. were aware that a lot of people were there to see John, but it doesn't need to be rubbed in their faces at their freaking record release party--a time to celebrate what they ALL worked so hard on together. I couldn't believe that people were being so obnoxious--John was on the side of the stage at the beginning of the show and I swear he moved out of sight because people kept looking at him, taking photos, etc. It just made the atmosphere more awkward and tense than it needed to be. Have some respect for the band, L.A.!

  4. lalelu says:

ah well, it was a great show...and i saw john kissing nicole after the show and took a few pics!!! she really isnt that pretty...i was very surprised :) he could do so much better!

    • Iva says:

You took photos of them kissing? That is not nice. That is rude, shame on you.

      • lalelu says:

not that bad at all...at least i dont think so and i dont feel bad about it!

anyway, back to music: the concert was great and i think swahili blonde are a great band...
if you are interested i can send you my pictures ( only the appropriate ones of course )
i managed to take a few a good shots of john and the band!

  5. Mike Hunt says:

I think that the people screaming John's name had every right screaming it... Afterall, they were scammed into believing that John was a REAL member of the band and had every intention of performing LIVE with the actual band because that's what all the articles portrayed.

So most of the people there for the show purchased tickets in hopes to see him play, and then... Wait? Who is that other guy on guitar??

I don't feel sorry for John at all, what they did was very calculating to get people in to the show.

I feel sorry for the other pour little guitar player. Imagine the pressure and attention he had to deal with simply because HE WASN'T JOHN. They promised John for the full show, until the last minute -- once the tickets were already sold, then declared he would be there for a 'guest performance'.two whole minutes?? Not even five?? I guess that's the going rate for only ten bucks, he'll play for only two minutes.

Those people had every right to scream his name and demand him. If he didn't want attention or millions of dollars of success... He should have never rejoined the Chilis back in '98. He's reaped what he's sowed, now big deal if he has to deal with a little admiration. Boo-hoo.

  6. Harry P says:

all i want to see is a better picture, i cant see anything. i wanna see what he looks like now and what guitar he was playing. was it is sunburst 62' thats what it looks like but i really cant make it out

  7. Dan says:

IM GOING AND I REALLY HOPE HE IS IN THE LIVE BAND WITH NICOLE AND THEM. If not

  8. Dan says:

^^ woah... hey i was there and i have a couple pictures from up close. i'll post themm

  9. anna says:

    great pics, dan.
glad to see he looks much better than in the last one or two years...

    • Dan says:

Right? he looked sooo good. I was in the front row while the opening bands were playing, and he was literally 12 feet away on the side of the stage with nicole and he looked really really excited and just straight up happy haha it was awesome. It was really incredible to see him, but I hope he plays more shows where he performs longer, like the improv show at the troubadour (that i missed >:l)
My recent post Ashes to Funk has posted the event-

  10. Okay, let's be honest here. Did anyone think that the show was a waste of time? Sure, Frusciante performed an amazing 5 minute solo, but was it worth 2 hours in line, 1 hour of weird African music, and John playing just the last song??

  11. Iva says:

Of course, the email address is in the sidebar and somewhere in these comments, too. :)

And I'm sorry for being moody...that's how they made me and spare parts aren't being produced anymore. *whacks a random insect that flew in*

    • lalelu says:

you´ve got mail :) feel free to post them on your site.

and don´t worry about being moody: i do understand your point and i would never post these private pictures anywhere.

  12. anonymous says:

2 hours in line? i walked right through the door around 10. before weave! even began playing.
