Heads-up – John’s blog was hacked, don’t go there!

It appears that John's official website was the next victim of a common malware attack aimed at outdated installs of WordPress.
In simple language - don't go there until further notice.. It went to pička materina. You might end up downloading a rogue program to your computer from its footer. Such programs ironically pose as anti-virus software prompting you to buy it, while installing shortcuts to online porn on your desktop, gaining access over your system tools.
If you have already been attacked by going to johnfrusciante.com, download a copy of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and have it scan your computer while NOT connected to the Internet - unplug your cables, shut down your routers, whatever it takes. Once it's done scanning, update its database and scan again, just in case.
I'm also using this opportunity to point out something many people are still wrong about - John is not on Twitter. If you spoke to anyone using his name, other than JohnJFrusciante who happens to be a writer/comedian from New York with the same name, you were scammed. There's a fake John out there wishing people a happy Purim and endorsing random bands.
The record company was notified about both of these issues and sent helpful tips on how to fix it, until then listen to what Google says and don't go to johnfrusciante.com or talk to the prankster on Twitter.
For reference: there's a little thing us professional web designers know and amateurs blame others for it when they first encounter them, usually thinking they have a rival - a website has got to be maintained, databases need to be purged, spam cleaned up and content management system updated. In particular, if you're a WordPress user, update it to 3.0.1. Same goes for your social media presence - someone might be "you" and you might not have an idea about it; so reserve your name everywhere if you're anywhere near a public person and be extra-cautious even if you aren't. These things can cause serious trauma to those affected.
And the above was just a friendly note, of course. ^_^

Why would anyone do that? Of all people they got John. No wonder people hate the internet
Well, not really. Those things are robotic, operate remotely and catch whatever they catch. It's like In Dumbo - millionaires, they get theirs, like the butcher and the baker...
It's Like In Dumbo! When are they going to let you handle John's web presence?!!! I'd be interested to know what the record label's response is when you try to alert them to this issue? Love ya, Iva! Thanks for all your hard work.

That is not what I said and that is NOT what I meant, by any means.
Iva, I know what you said because I read what you wrote. Do you know what i am saying?

You know I've been trying to go to johnfrusciante.com for a while now & my norton anti-virus always went crazy when I would go. It wouldn't let me see anything on it. Thankfully I never disabled it to go on. Thanks for the post!
I'm with Peter, Iva - even though it's not what you said or meant. Don't know why John just doesn't make IM his official site and be done with it.
I guess John doesn't even now that IM.net exists. And I also guess he hasn't much to do with his official site. I think that he's not very concerned about the internet and his public appearance there. To him it only seems to be a medium to offer his music for free! I appreciate that attitude very much and I feel no need to change his official site, many people put too much emphasis on the internet.
That doesn't mean that it is a bad media. I'm a daily visitor of IM.net and it's unbelieveable how much work Iva spends in offering this huge amount of information. But it is the best how it is. Making IM.net official would mean: no more information about Swahili Blonde, Michael Rother, Omar Rodriguez, etc. Only official stuff about him.
IM.net wouldn't be anymore what it is now. So thank Iva for her work, love, and her existence.

1) Do not assume what he thinks and does, why he does it or if he thinks it's cool that way.
2) Do not assume what I think and do, why I do it and if I'm some sort of a mother Theresa here.
That's it. Thank you.
I don't know where the "My recent post Crunchy Peanut Butter Cookies " comes from. It was't me..?!
Oh, and of course I should not assume what you think and do, Iva.
Love...
Dude, chill out. He wasn't assuming anything about what you think and do; he was just giving thanks. He was a giving a compliment...most people say "thanks" and move on.
I really like the site and appreciate all the work that gets put into it but at times I don't like coming on here because I feel like a lot of comments coming from you and certain other members are unnecessarily defensive and/or confrontational. I usually avoid the comment section for this reason but I couldn't resist this time. I don't really think it's your place to tell him that he can't theorize on what John thinks because we're all on the same playing field; none of us knows John. He could be spot on or he could be way off, but I'm pretty sure most of us know that it's just David's opinion and not to take it too literally. I understand telling someone not assume stuff about you, but he didn't even act like he was analyzing you or your motives on this site.
I just don't like that David attempted to give thanks and ended up having to apologize.
Ok, now back to avoiding the comment section...
Well, I know that most minorities in where I`m from are over protective of themselves and are ready to explode if you just look at them. There is nothing to do about it really, when people get offended by society or its certain members all the time they just become that way. Sort of a protection against the world.
Iva is doing a great job not only maintaining IM but also deleting things that bug her on personal level and go against her belief system.
Bummer, I wish they would fix it and I wish that John would use it occasionally.

Always be suspicious when someone with 'celebrity' status talks a lot, seemingly randomly, on a social network. Dealing with imposters isn't exactly the responsibility of those who're (poorly) impersonated. I recall that in my younger years someone thought they were talking to me and later blamed me for being "an asshole". I was annoyed and remarked that since I'm not an asshole it should've been obvious that that wasn't me. I didn't realise a lot of people only look at a (nick)name.
Went to pička materina
) Too bad for the site.
Bolje i to nego vukojebina.
