Trailer for Bob And The Monster & fundraising alert!
Most of you will remember that nearly two years ago, it was made known that the Sundance Film Festival’s Grand Jury Prize-winning producer Keirda Bahruth is doing a documentary on Bob Forrest – the iconic frontman of Thelonious Monster and The Bicycle Thief, nowadays a solo artist and counselor of the Celebrity Rehab show. I’m more than glad to inform you the film has been completed and the trailer is available for you to watch! John is, of course, featured in it; talking about Bob Forrest who, to remind those who don’t know, discovered his talents.
In case you’re fond of screencaps (more than six years of running this website tells me that you are), here are a couple.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Six years in the making, this documentary film follows outspoken indie-rock hero Bob Forrest, through his life-threatening struggle with addiction, to his transformation into one of the most influential and controversial drug counselors in the US today. BOB AND THE MONSTER crafts contemporary footage, animation and compelling interviews with archival performances and personal videos from Bob’s past to reveal the complex layers of this troubled, but hopeful soul. Testimony from his peers, including Courtney Love, Anthony Kiedis and Flea add texture, but it’s the depth of Bob’s music, interwoven throughout the film, that illuminates this unforgettable and inspirational story.
The film is currently being finished and set to see the light of the day at the SXSW on the 11th of March, as one can read in the review by Movieline.
Now here’s the deal: the production team needs your help to get all the work done and fund the remaining costs needed to cover the film’s online promotion, music rights, archival clearances, sound mix, et cetera. The author, protagonist and the team behind the film are offering some VERY attractive awards for all the bigger donations. For example, if you donate $35 or more, upon its release you will get a DVD signed by Keirda Bahruth and Bob Forrest himself; and if you donate $75 or more, the DVD will also be signed by Josh Klinghoffer, and you’ll also get a hand-screened film poster, with all of the three signatures. Isn’t that awesome? Please, click here to donate and, if you have done so, reply to this post, so it’d be known. ^_^
