There have been many unclear rumours regarding John's involvement with the Quentin Tarantino-backed high budget martial arts film that has been rumoured to star RZA and Russell Crowe; while it's been pretty clear that some tracks off The Empyrean ended up in the low budget flick not planned for release.

Looks like there'a finally some light being shed on this matter! The film's final title is The Man With The Iron Fists and it's nearing its premiere this Friday.

A list of credits has been included in the most recent press release. RZA is the director, screenplay writer and one of the As opposed to all of theย  post-Brown Bunny motion picture soundtrack appearances as a solo artist, John is listed with two previously unreleased songs; one of which is his own. The other is a remix of a Wu-Tang track he co-produced.

  4. munky says:

but, "Foregrow" will be Share or we only can hear it on the movie¿?

  5. Bernard says:

The credits list 14 songs and John's on two of them.

The music player on the movie page lists 15 songs......
and the album's website lists 16 songs....
while the Deluxe Ultra Pak page lists 70 songs......(!)

..........yet the two we're looking for don't make it anywhere, go figure!

Sounds like a pretty badass soundtrack though.

  8. Jim says:

why is John not on the Soundtrack? ๐Ÿ™

  9. Chris says:

I went and saw the movie, John's song Foregorow was only played for about 15 seconds, but it was awesome! Cant wait ti hear the full song whenever that is

    • Keegs says:

Can you describe the song? I want to see the movie, but it's not playing in my city.

      • Chris says:

A lot of those synth tones on Letr Lefr like on In Your Eyes and In My Light, and weird rhythms like on PBX, and his singing reminded me a bit of his singing on The Empyrean, those long notes, not in falsetto , however it was only a 15 second clip used in the movie. It was awesome though.

  10. Hiro says:

It's strange that John's songs aren't in the soundtrack as he's famous enough to make people buying the tracks like we trying to do.
Might it just because he doesn't want to release his tracks as a piece of the commercial stuff like Radiohead did.

  11. Bernard says:

I think I figured out why it's not on the OST; there is another track in the list which has suffered the same fate. It is called 'Hell Hath No Fury', and like 'Foregrow', the credits do not state the words "Under license from...<name of publishing label>". In other words these two tracks are purely owned by the artists themselves. I presume that without the corporate muscle the other tracks enjoy, these songs won't make it to the OST and the commercial benefits it entails. I guess it is the song owners who pay to appear on the OST, not the other way round. Sad but that's how the business works.

Thankfully RZA had other ideas where the movie is concerned though. :p

We might never hear more than that 15 second clip, unless John puts it on an album (unlikely, it would be out of place) or releases it on his website.

  12. Adam says:

Lookslike someone posted the snippet ! Too bad the quality is so poor...
A real pleasure to hear his voice though !
