  • John and related topics on end of year and end of decade lists

This should’ve probably gone online on the last day of 2009, but many websites and other publications have come up with such lists much later and apparently are still coming up with it; so this list might even end up being updated a couple more times. Read this post until its very end if you think something’s missing, because you can contribute to it. The Empyrean in best of 2009 lists: Popwrecking – Adam Leroy names The Empyrean best album of 2009 and says: The Empyrean opens with an extended guitar solo workout that recalls Pink Floyd Meddle-era. Thus begins a journey that is equal parts rock and folk meshed…

The other nominees not making the list this time around are also LL Cool J, Kiss, Donna Summer, Darlene Love, The Chantels, and Laura Nyro. The presenters and performers will be announced in early 2010. You might also want to check out: MTV’s article on this Rolling Stone’s article…

MusicRadar’s source claims it’s true that John’s left RHCP again

In the article the website just published, MusicRadar’s Joe Bosso – the same person who did the podcast/interview with John early this year – says that they “exclusively interviewed” a “source close to the band” and that John has indeed been replaced with Josh Klinghoffer. “Josh Klinghoffer has been playing with the group for a couple of months now,” says the source. “Optimistically, the Peppers are trying to lock down a replacement for John, who has apparently quit. “Mentally, John checked out a long time ago. He’s interested in doing his own thing, his own albums – the whole big rock band machinery just doesn’t appeal to him anymore.” Futhermore,…

Credible LA bloggers/music industry insiders hint that John is not recording with Red Hot Chili Peppers

Over the past 24 hours, two different websites owned by music insiders from the Los Angeles area have posted news items which contained small bits regarding the future of Red Hot Chili Peppers and with whom they’re recording the follow-up to Stadium Arcadium. Both sources indicate that John Frusciante is no longer in Red Hot Chili Peppers or, to be more precise, not recording with them right now. Buzzbands.la owned by a former LA Times music journalist states: Red Hot: I hear the Red Hot Chili Peppers are writing music for a 10th album, but without John Frusciante. Guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who toured with the Peppers as a second axeman…

  • Chad Smith isn’t allowed to respond to questions about John.

In his interview with Classic Rock Magazine, Chad Smith unwillingly responded that he’s beeen told to stay away from “John questions”, having been asked if some statements from earlier this year impacted anything. So the Chilis have finally returned to work, following the 2006 double-set Stadium Arcadium. Did guitarist John Frusciante, who in recent interviews seemed to express antipathy towards doing so, take some persuading? [Sounding uncomfortable]: Well… at this time I can’t talk about that. I have been told to stay away from the John questions. Nevertheless, the tenth album is underway? What I can tell you is that the Chili Peppers are writing songs, and we’re looking forward…

  • Under The Bridge guitar riff is 46th out of 50 greatest riffs ever

In their compilation of Top 50 Guitar riffs of all time, based on readers’ input, MusicRadar have listed Under The Bridge’s memorable riff on the 46th spot. This is how they described it: Anyone who has worked in a guitar shop since its release as a single in 1992 is likely justifiably sick of Under The Bridge. John Fruciante’s arpeggiated intro long ago entered the canon of great guitar parts doomed to be recycled ad nauseum by budding players along with the likes of Enter Sandman and (god forbid) Stairway To Heaven. For Frusciante’s inspiration for the band’s biggest hit, look no further than Bold As Love-era Hendrix. The embellished…

  • RHCP, Dave Matthews Band and Wilco will honor Neil Young at MusiCares

The anual MusiCares gala night will take place on 29th January 2010 and, according to Rolling Stone, a couple of notable bands will honour the legendary Neil Young. One of them will be Red Hot Chili Peppers. Dave Matthews, Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Mellencamp, Wilco and Crosby, Stills & Nash are just a handful of the artists set to pay tribute to legend Neil Young at the 2010 MusiCare’s Person of the Year gala on January 29th at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The event will honor both Young’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame-worthy musical achievements as well as his philanthropic work, which includes leading roles in both…

  • Top five replacement band members list – guess who’s number two!

This is just plain interesting. No big news or anything, just thought it could be a cool read and a great concept. Sean Levinston of Desert Island Lists has compiled a top five of Replacement Band Members. From Ronnie Wood to Brian Johnson via RJ Dio and Phil Collen…here’s the number two on the list: 2. John Frusciante-If it wasn’t hard enough to categorize the Red Hot Chili Peppers, here comes John Frusciante to just make it more of a confusing process that is still debated today. I don’t know how they did it, but somehow the Chili Peppers found a guy that gave them everything they could ever want…

  • Possible RHCP album release in October 2010?

According to an interview Chad Smith gave to Clash Music, Red Hot Chili Peppers might release a new album in October 2010. Interviewed for the next issue of Clash Magazine, Smith shared details of their plans stating, “We’re gonna write for a while, it usually takes us a while” before speculating that the release date would be “Some time next year, maybe this time [next year]”. Asked if Flea’s experience working with Thom Yorke might feed back into the Chili Peppers new material, Smith said that his colleague had given him a cd of electronic beats to inspire him but that, at the moment, there wasn’t an explicit electronic direction…

  • Flea on RHCP rehearsing and his work at Silverlake Conservatory

OK, so, some of you complained about Invisible Movement becoming a website about Chad Smith. Some others claimed there’s too much fan-made contents (I assume you’re not into web 2.0, huh?) and some thought this was getting as stupid as Kunta Kinte at a a Merle Haggard concert. So, here’s a video where Flea confirms that band is rehearsing, it’s at 6:20 and transcribed below the video. [flash http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-0Lw8b04Q0] Host: People always want to know, what is the latest with the Chili Peppers? Flea: Oh, the Chili Peppers…well, we’ve just had a hiatus, so we took a break and now, we’re, you know, we’re in the room, working on new…
