Review of the Albany show

Here is a review of the last night’s shows in Albany, NY, USA…to keep you happy until the Invisible Movement Albany special (in who knows how many parts) sees the light of the day. Happy reading!

The Peppers aren’t going softly into middle age. On the contrary, the Peppers have been ripping it up, releasing the double-disc “Stadium Arcadium” in May and are in the midst of a worldwide tour that ends next April.

The Peppers were red hot at the Pepsi Arena on Saturday night, blowing away a sellout crowd of more than 15,000 with almost two hours of relentless, slamming rock/funk that had fans up on their feet and screaming from the time the band took the stage until the time they said good night.

The all-ages crowd — there were kids, tweens, teens and adults in their 50s at this show — couldn’t get enough of Kiedis, Flea and especially guitarist John Frusciante, who was absolutely on fire on Saturday night.

Frusciante was wild, firing off blistering guitar licks in songs such as “Fortune Faded,” “Californication” and a killer reading of “Snow” — which he preceded with a solo version of “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.” Frusciante’s guitar work was searing on Saturday night, cutting through the heavy bottom put down by Flea and drummer Smith — one of rock’s most solid drummers.
