Site updates, 23rd December 2007
The once-again-too-cluttered and once-again-too-huge list of the weekly updates on the site contains:
- Three more languages for the GLOBAL action
- One more 2007 live photography album
- Scans of three magazines, one of them with some extras
- Some other unsorted magazine cuttings
- One more set of screencaps
- Two more traditional art pieces and six more wallpapers submitted by site visitors
- Two more articles and one album review translated from Dutch
- Some site-related tweaks’n’bits
Next major update (I will say which one’s major, mmmkay?) will contain some special surprises to keep you going for the upcoming four weeks and a bit more. That’s a hint, yes.
More GLOBAL action submissions!
Many thanks to Anet Kõrsmaa for having sent her Estonian, Jordi Domenech Montane for having sent his Catalan and Serhiy Kovalenko and Natalia Zhuravska for having sent their two slightly different translations of Invisible Movement in Ukrainian. They’re now available on the GLOBAL subpage, so please do have a look at them. This makes a total of 24 languages for now. Keep them coming.
Live photography updates
Auckland, New Zealand 22nd April 2007, by Pisa
Magazine scans updates
Huper, May 2007 – contains a large closeup of one of the SA promo pics.
Guitar World Acoustic, April/May 2004, thanks to Gizem (again and again and again)
Total Guitar, April 2001 was rescanned by me and I have also updated the cover image so now it is in normal resolution and added the missing pages: tabs to songs John recommended as he was the magazine’s first-ever guest editor. They’re now in a sub-album of that album. By the way, the features are Blind Blake’s Southern Rag, Joy Division’s Shadowplay and an example of Jimmy Page’s blues soloing.
2004 Mix was updated with one more minor magazine scan, from an issue of Rolling Stone for Latin America.
Magazine covers section was updated with a better quality cover mentioned above and one cover that was not added to that section earlier, by mistake.
Screencaps/stills updates
Top Of The Pops UK, 15th April 2006
Once again, the turbo-charged screencapping genius known to mere mortals as Flavia was very busy.
Fanart updates
Two new traditional art pieces by Sandra Glab are online. The one with the guitar is pretty impressive.
New wallpapers, five by David and two by Slobodan have been added to the user-submitted wallpapers section.
Also, from now on, 800×600 wallpapers will no longer be distributed in the gallery. Only 7% of the site visitors have that screen resolution and, with basic computer skills, anyone can set a 1024×768 wallpaper to fill an 800×600 screen. Same will occur with the wallpapers I made.
Articles updates
Oor magazine, 29th May 1999 and Aloha, 26th April 2004 are now translated, thanks to Ilse van’t Hoff.
Another Dutch, Maarten Streefland, sent in a review of two John’s albums from the November 2004 issue of Oor, but I split them for easier viewing; so, here they are:
Oor review of Inside Of Emptiness
Oor review of A Sphere In The Heart Of Silence
Some typos have been fixed in other articles (I-M.net translators are still humans, even though they’re so generous that it’s almost incredible). Thanks Maja for having noticed the most embarrassing one!
Misc. updates
The site has been fixed so the menu could look normal again in Internet Explorer 6.x. That leaves people on newer browsers with an ugly space next to the forum link. Sorry, it’s all about compromises, and too many people still use IE6.
The calendar has been fixed, although there isn’t almost anything to show at the moment.
The 404 errors submitted by the site visitors have been fixed (apart from those related to audio files from 2006); thanks for your help.
The site FAQ and disclaimer have been redone and now there are the answers to the most asked questions regarding Invisible Movement, connections and news on it. Whenever needed, this section will be extended.
I’m aware that the articles page is a bit odd and huge, that the links page is still messed up and that the new help links don’t have pages created for them yet; but I’m working on fixing that…as well as on many other things.
