Site updates, 18th August 2008
Today happens to be Invisible Movement message board’s thrid anniversary. There’s no party thread or anything this time, as a much more important reason to celebrate for both the site and the message board is set to take its place sometime in September or October. If you don’t know what that occasion might be, here’s a clue: numbers.
The board has been really active for the last couple of months, especially since the transfer to a faster server a couple of weeks ago, and currently there are more than 2200 registered members. In order to assure that everyone is nice and polite and that some things people can get away with in other places can’t and won’t be allowed, I have introduced a little award to be handed to the nicest and helpful member as chosen by the board’s community each 15th of the month. For more information, click here and if you’re an active forum member, do feel free to nominate people for the September 2008 award.
As for the site updates, here they are. It’s all a bit slimmer this time, but still enough to keep everyone full for the next 7-10 days.
- Two sets of live photographs; from 2006 and 2007
- A gorgeous photograph from 2000 by a professional
- Two sets of magazine scans
- A new gallery section for books and such…with some content in it, of course
- One new set of screencaps
- One more magazine article
Live photos
23rd August 2007; Hampden Park, Glasgow – by Fiona McStay
31st October 2006; Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland – by Brad Balon
Fiona’s photos are, as usual, taken from pretty close to the stage and it was worth waiting for them for almost a year. When you’re looking at them, don’t forget to check those from Paris, InÄ‘ija; as well as Milano, London and Oxegen festival the year before.
The second set was updated, as there were only two photographs in it before. The 31st October 2006 show is, as the most of keen followers know, an unique one on the Stadium Arcadium tour, as it was Halloween and the band members wore interesting costumes. Could you ever imagine John as an [American] football player?
Magazine scans
In 1999, the staff of Kerrang! was following Red Hots’ Californication tour pretty closely and every now and then, they’d publish a poster-pullout featuring some awesome on and offstage moments, as captured by Tony Woolliscroft. I’ve come accross two of such pullouts and you can see them here and here.
Professional’s contribution
A really nice photograph taken by Seth Kaye in 2000 has probably popped out to many of you during image searches. If that does not ring a bell, perhaps you want to take a look and remind yourselves of it. Many thanks to Seth for having been so kind to provide the photograph in a rather large size for the period of time it’s from.
New section for photos from books and tab books
A new section of the gallery has been created under “Everything Else” and it’s meant to serve as a resource for scans taken of book covers/photos from books and tab books. So far, it contains two sets.
Scans of the front and back cover of Inside The Veins Of The Velvet Groove
Scans of the Out In LA tab book artwork (thanks to Gizem)
This gallery will be filled with more photos from books on the next update.
Screencaps
For all of you who were not able to watch the classic 1999 news clip that MTV featured six days ago, here are some screencaps from it. A reminder: if the clip is not possible to watch in your part of the world, you can download a rip with OK picture and somewhat good sound at this address.
Articles
Metal Forces article from November 1991 has been transcribed and added to the site. Many thanks to Naomi for having been so kind to do it.
There aren’t that many articles left to type out, only 9 of them that do not require a translation, so if you have some spare time, look here and pick one up.
