Video clip, more photos and reviews!
The gallery was updated again. The first album from the 05th September show now has four more photos. Many thanks to Katie for these and for the fastest-ever update in this website history.
The second update would be a set of photos from the same show taken by Lauren Harrity and you can find it here. The quality of these photos isn’t something you’d usually expect to see here, but with the light and the movements captured in them, they look somewhat special. Perhaps you’ll agree, perhaps you won’t.
And this really short video was taken by Luis Garcia, the same wonderful person who took the photos that, according to statistics, you all seemed to like most.

This was such a great opportunity to watch Flea, John Frusciante, Josh Klinghoffer and Stella Mozgawa jammin out at such a small venue. That’s exactly what it was….a jam session; playing whatever they felt and wanted at that moment in time. It was so surreal watching amazing artists perform with great passion and emotion. The collaboration between those four was awesome. John’s incredible solos left everyone speechless and with a slight grin on their faces. This was a night that provoked strong emotions and will definitely stay with me for a long time.

My friends and I got to the venue around 6PM so we could get close to the stage. We talked to a few guys sitting next to us in line who were fairly nice. We were sitting there talking and John just walked right by. I was thinking about saying something but i didn’t really want to bother him. One dude next to me in line actually went over to him and took a picture, though. Josh also walked by a few minutes after.
At 8PM the doors opened. My bass player friend and drummer friend stood over on Flea’s side of the stage and me and my guitar player friend stood on John’s side of the stage, in the front row. We were literally right in front of John’s pedals.
Weave! was the first band. They were alright, but i feel like they were sort of repetitive.
Warpaint (Emily Kokal’s band) came on next. Emily has an amazing voice and is a great guitar player, and the other 3 members of the band were good at their instruments as well. I’d definitely consider seeing them live again.
John, Flea, Josh and Stella were set to come on next. My friend and I weren’t sure what kind of jam it would be at all. Would it be a synth/noise jam? Would it be a Chili Peppers style jam?
But it wasn’t very similar to a Chili Peppers jam at all. The first jam (which seemed like it was a riff that they had rehearsed before) sort of reminded me and my friends of some trance/rave type music, just in the way John’s guitar sounded (probably a moog effect) and the riffs he used. It’s kind of hard to describe. Flea and John started the riff and then Stella and Josh came in on drums at the same time and it was so intense and powerful and amazing.
It was much more experimental, aside from the wah-wah soloing. John, a lot of times, would just get a bunch of feedback over the other musicians and you could hear Josh making these crazy synth sounds over it.
You could tell most of the set was improvised, as Flea would start playing bass lines and John wouldn’t know what to play to his parts. At one point Flea told Stella what he wanted a drum beat to sound like.
I sort of think John soloed a little too much; i guess i was expecting more riff based stuff because of the first song. Either way, it was amazing. Flea was great and Stella and Josh were both amazing on drums. Stella actually broke her bass drum (Josh gave her his) and knocked a cymbal off of its stand at two different points of the jam. At one point they both did a crazy drum solo and Josh was kind of struggling to keep up with Stella’s insane drum soloing and John was standing there laughing at them.
Overall, because of the quality of music and our distance from the stage, it was probably one of the coolest shows i’ve ever seen.

I got there to buy my tickets at about 830pm then went and got food and came back about 945pm. When we went in the place was about 3/4 full and warpaint was on. After awhile I looked upstairs to the balcony and saw john standing there watching the band. Later on I saw him again talking to flea and josh and warming up on his guitar. Then a little after 10 the guys started setting up for the show. There was two drum sets, one for josh and one for Stella, a keyboard/synth played by josh and of course flea was on bass and john on guitar. They started right into the music which was amazing. The first song had a lot of synth and was pretty fast and upbeat and everyone was dancing. John would occasionally stop playing and step back and listen to the rest of the guys play then he would join back in with a great guitar riff. I was standing right in front of his pedal board and I cannot explain what a joy it was to be able to watch his face while he was creating this beautiful music. Everyone else was playing great as well. Flea really impressed me and Josh got so into his drumming he just blew me away. I can see now why John wants him on all his solo stuff! lol John had a glass of wine with him on stage and he did take a drink from it but he also drank water. He seemed completely on his game to me. Then after about 45 minutes flea and john looked at each other and nodded and flea gave a thumbs up and they set down their instruments and left the stage. And let me tell you the audience was not leaving! We all wanted more but after about 10 minutes, with no sign of an encore, I gave up and left. Amazing experience!
