Site updates

Site updates – 19th October 2008

It’s been a while. In case you didn’t notice the previous years’ fashion, October is quite a busy month with a quite low update frequency compared to the rest of the year. However, people craving more regular site updates have not been forgotten and this update is a proof of that.

I have some 400 messages in need of reply in my inbox, half of which are from this website’s visitors. With another really busy week ahead, please do give me some time to get back to you all. Also, there are some things that did not make it to the site for this update so, if you sent something, do not despair and don’t be confused. It’ll probably go online with one of the next two site updates.

  • The forum has a new section – Invisible Movement workshop.
  • The tag cloud is finally working and all news items have been tagged.
  • More 2001 shows have been added to the audio player.
  • One more set of live photos…very recent and NO HAIRY RODENTS.
That will sure make you take a look, won’t it?
  • Three new sets of magazine scans + some minor clippings.
  • 2004 stuff temporarily available for download
  • One more song John played with TMV in 2004.
  • Two more audio interviews from 2001.
  • More 100×100 icons/avatars
  • More links to readers’ music projects.

Invisible Movement workshop
As this website is growing quite rapidly (it’s almost frightening, actually), even more people than before are willing to help build it and are generously contributing their recorded or photographed material or their knowledge. From now on, there is a separate section on the forum for everyone who would like to help out – containing guidelines and helpful hints as well. Click here to go to Invisible Movement workshop.

Oh, and the forum has a new banner, too. Not perfect, so it might change again in near future.

Proper tag cloud
After various scripting issues, Invisible Movement finally has a proper tag cloud. It’s listing all the existing tags on a random basis and, yes, ALL the news items from May 2004 on have been tagged. Some tags might change in near future due to accuracy of certain terms, but if so, the old tags shall be redirecting visitors to new ones. In case you’re still clueless about tags, there was an introduction in this particular site update.

More 2001 shows in the audio player
Just in case you have not noticed, more 2001 shows have been added to the audio player, both London ones and the controversial Santa Barbara one. The rest is yet to come as all of the 2001 shows but the two last ones can be added to this player. Happy listening!

Live photography
This photo was taken on 27th September this year. Do you notice anything? I know I do. And enormous thanks to David for allowing this photo to be shared.

Magazine scans
From newest to the oldest one. The second one was scanned by me, the rest by Gizem (thanks ^_^).
Guitarist & Bass, September/October 2008
Ryan Hewitt interview for Tape Op, September/October 2007
Blue Jean, August 2002
…and one new clipping in the 2001 mix section.

Another temporary audio download
As John’s official site is not back to normal regime yet, I have put the demos and acoustic versions of Shadows Collide With People up as temporary downloads. You can get them here and here. Please, do remember that they’re not something to make money on.

More John & TMV
On the page reserved for John’s random onstage appearances, you’ll find Take The Veil Cerpin Taxt from The Mars Volta’s show on 13th May 2004 in Los Angeles. (Thanks to flipzoso for the correction!)

Audio interviews
Two 2001 interviews, with DotMusic and OUI FM have been added to the audio interviews’ page. Some interview transcripts will be added to the site in near future, too.

More icons/avatars
Three new 100×100 avatars have been added to the page you can grab them from.

More links to readers’ music pages
The readers’ music pages directory has been updated. Check out Language Of Termites, thefancydressparty, The Mike Peyman Project and Wuislmustang.
