Site updates

Site updates, 18th November 2008

So, the week when a server upgrade was causing a minor chaos on this domain is behind us as well as the week when we all ended up smiling broadly. Regarding the first thing. It took me a lot of time and a bunch of support tickets exchanged with the staff of Servage.net, but with their help and help of some really kind people from Gallery2 support forums, the issues were resolved and everything is back to normal…for a longer period of time, I hope. On this occasion, many thanks to Peter, Patrik, Julie, Manuel and Scott on one and “nivekiam” on the other side. Thanks for your patience for a mere designer in need. And, of course, thanks to all of you reading this for putting up with errors, downtime and timeouts.

At the same time, I’m afraid that email validations on the forum and comment notifications on the site are not functioning 100% properly. I’m on the task and hoping to have this solved as soon as possible. The latest posts from the board feature is back, the main RSS feed works after a short delay. And the last week the best week in Invisible Movement’s history (thus topping the last week of September and the week of Green Fest 2007); so…a huge thanks to all the wonderful people commenting, contributing and sharing the love. It was a bit tricky for me as there were many new commentators to approve, so on this occasion, I would like to apologise to anyone who waited way too long for their comment to be approved. Once you bypass the first-time commenter verification, you don’t have to wait anymore.

This beautiful update contains, amongst other things, some treats for retro-lovers and a lot to read. Features for November will be added on their own, most likely tomorrow. And yes, they will be up until around 20th December.

1989 live photos!
Wonderful Niki aka NizZenPix and her husband, Cosio Galko, have been so kind to scan their set of photos from a RHCP show held at The Patio in Indianapolis on 19th March 1989. Yes, 1989. Now, that’s a long ago. I know that some of us were pre-school children like I was. Some others were not even born. And some were blessed by whatever to be born earlier and witness this magic. For all the groups I just mentioned and all of those that I did not mention, here it is, a travel through time, almost twenty years ago.

Random magazine scans
There’s a new random scan from 2001, and you can see it at this URI. There are some from 2004, too and 1991 finally has its own mix/random section. I wish I could find out who scanned some things in it, but as some of them might have been scanned ten years ago judging from low-ish quality…that’d be like teaching a fish to ride a bicycle.

And this one is exceptionally interesting, though not complete: June/July 2004 tour book. Many thanks to Soph who scanned this…well, eons ago.

Screencaps/stills
There’s some fresh air in the subsection of screencaps/stills section, infamously titled “other stuff”. Funny enough, both of the sets of screenies are from award acceptances a certain band cound not attend…so, check out what they recorded for fans for 2002 MTV EMAs and 2003 Brits.

A mini radio show from 2001
Right after his stunning performances in London’s Borderline club, John played three songs on XFM radio: In Relief, So Would’ve I and Going Inside. You can grab them all from this page, in mp3 format.

So, you want “Stuff”?
Having seen it on YouTube and usually not coming accross a lower-quality version on another website, some people asked me to put Stuff up for download. Here it is. It’s probably not in a section that would best describe it, but it’s there. A masterpiece? A meant-to-be feature of some posthumous documentary? A…something else? Feel free to judge for yourself.

Magazine articles
The interview for the March 2001 issue of Visions has been translated at last. Many thanks to Sabrina.

And Mike was so nice to transcribe the article from May 2004 issue of Guitar.

Album reviews
Visions review of To Record Water For Ten Days, as translated by Sabrina
Netplugged.com review of Shadows Collide With People, as translated by yours truly.

Fresh links in all languages!
OK, not really all languages. There are two new links, for one great Hungarian site and a Greek forum under RHCP-related and a link to a nice Italian music forum among other related sites.
