More news on the new TMV album, Octahedron

As reported by Pitchfork in their yesterday’s news item; The Mars Volta’s new album, Octahedron, will (how surprisingly) contain of eight songs.

The Pitchfork staff member was somewhat humorous about the album’s personell.

On the album, the core Mars Volta duo of guitarist/sound wizard Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala are joined once again by multi-instrumentalist Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez, drummer Thomas Pridgen, keyboardist Isaiah “Ikey” Owens, bassist Juan Alderete de la Peña, and guitarist John Frusciante (who is also in some other band, apparently? Ice Cold Hot Salts or something?)

The track listing should be, as follows:

  1. Since We’ve Been Wrong
  2. Teflon
  3. Halo of Nembutals
  4. With Twilight as My Guide
  5. Cotopaxi
  6. Desperate Graves
  7. Copernicus
  8. Luciforms

According to hardcore TMV fans, the first track can be listened to here, as it was performed on the New Year’s Eve 2007/2008.

For information on John’s involvement in this project, read this news post, from a couple of weeks ago. Also, keep an eye on The Comatorium’s blog as they’re likely to know the official information first.
