RZA on John in AmA + AcHoZen update + NYL sampler
Here’s a list of fun stuff to get you through the weekend. These are not worth of news item on their own, but they are – nevertheless – exciting.
RZA on John in his Reddit AmA
RZA was recently featured on Reddit’s AmA and two of the questions he responded to were about John. Click each of the screencaps to read the answers, as they were smudged to fit into the layout of the page.
You can read RZA’s archived AmA here, if interested.
AcHoZeN update
Remember Shavo Odadjijan’s project that debuted at the Roxy in April 2008, with John playing guitar for them live? After a bunch of rumours about what songs he will be on and if he will be on any, now we know it, straight from Shavo’s mouth typing fingers: John is on a track called Secured.
Sadly, the AcHoZeN album has been pushed back again, because of Wu-Tang Clan’s 20th anniversary record. Once there is more news on this, you will know.
In somwehat related news, Shavo will also release a free track called “Started” featuring the Black Knights soon.
Neurotic Yell Records sampler
Neurotic Yell records have put up their Spring 2014 sampler up on BandCamp a couple of days ago. There is a Swahili Blonde track from their second album featuring John, as well as one of the songs from Amanda Jo Williams’ album that he played organ and piano on.
And there’s also the only Kimono Kult track not featuring him and a bunch of other lovely numbers by other artists. Plus, it’s free or whatever you feel like paying for it.
So, if you’re up for listening to some new music, go download the sampler and don’t forget to leave a hat tip. We just did so.
Brown Bunny vinyl shipping delayed
Twelve Suns, the Australian indie record label responsible for the long-awaited vinyl issue of the soundtrack to Vincent Gallo’s Brown Bunny film, would like to let everybody know that, because of the record store day and all the vinyl pressing plants working at their full capacity, the shipping is slightly delayed.
The orders should be shipped sometime next week and you can read their original status update here.
* Many thanks to Patrick who discovered RZA’s AmA and spoke to Shavo Odadjijan!
