Ever since the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ guitarist, singer and songwriter has put the drugs on the shelf, he has been a workaholic. The speed of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ releases has been too slow for him, and therefore the equilibristic guitarist has released albums continuously, and now he’s speeding up in the year 2004. John Frusciante has intentions of releasing an album every month of the year, and when your name is Frusciante, then it isn’t a joke, it’s a fact.

The Will To Death is the first embodiment of his eagerness to work. With his friend Josh Klinghoffer he has recorded the 12 songs of the album at his home studio, and you can really tell in the production which is so limited that it easily could have been done by any continuation school band. And it is a shame because Frusciante’s songs deserve better. The guitar wizard is actually an excellent songwriter and singer, who could easily have a breakthrough. It is to my disappointment that Frusciante rather wants to play. Come on join the game and give the songs and the production some real effort.
