I don’t know when it happened, but sometime between his first solo record and his latest, JOHN FRUSCIANTE escaped a lackadaisical songwriting style and blossomed into a forceful writer. From his quivering vocals to simply stunning guitar-playing, Frusciante takes listeners by the hand through his BEACH BOYS-inspired soundscape on Inside of Emptiness. The songs are often hard-charging but there’s always a sense of true emptiness. Never have I heard an album title that so fits the music on it.
