Getting together with your rock star buddies always sounds like a good idea, but rarely does it produce the goods. The Chili’s guitarist and Josh Klinghoffer had already worked together on Fruciante’s solo albums when they asked Fugazi bassit Joe Lally to help with this side project. While those solo ablums were intriguing, this is pure self-indulgence. All improvised and with some tracks lasting over 10 mintues, what you get is some droning bass and sub-PiL guitar. Unfortuantly, that still accounts for only half of the stuff they recorded. There’s already another album planned for next year. Not good news.
