Site updates, 30th March 2008
Another set of updates was delayed even though I thought it wouldn’t be. Working on a complicated database of employees of a very large company does its thing, I’m afraid; so do three other projects. I’m also sorry about the current lack of a new playlist, but once all of this is done, there will be a completely new look for the site as well, so there will be more time for developing playlists. Also, I apologise for temporary outages of both polls and the playlist, I was upgrading those components and they were not behaving well at some points. Bad components.
Either way, here’s this week’s list of updates. Last week’s, too. Let’s hope they’re not for next week as well. To view details on each list item, open the whole page.

Volunteer-file has been updated
The volunteer checklist has been updated, as some really nice people typed out/translated a bunch of articles. The list now contains other sections of the site that could use some input, so have a look.
One more language in the GLOBAL action
Invisible Movement’s GLOBAL action now has twenty seven different languages. The latest one is Mandarin, the translation was done by Wei-Wei Lee and you can have a look at it here.
A complete live show
?, Kentucky, ? April 1997 is now available on its own page, in both mp3 and flac as well as a listenable playlist, thanks to Jason of Stone Cold Bush who ripped it from the video tape and improved its quality. This show is a great opportunity for people to hear some of the old unreleased songs. If anyone knows more about the exact date of this show and the venue, it would be much, much appreciated.
Also, I would like to thank Matt for having told me (what should have been)obvious: that the solo shows weren’t accessible through site navigation. Now they are!
The famous 40-minutes jam is back online
Well, well…I can’t believe that I never put this gem back on the site and I apologise to everyone who knew about it. As for everyone else: this is one of those things you SIMPLY must download, regardless of any download limit your internet service provider might have put ahead of you, regardless of your opinion on John’s improvisations, regardless of your opinion on TMV and Michael Rother.
So, to cut the long story short, The Mars Volta supported RHCP on the early-2003 tour legs in Europe. And, as we all know, whenever there’s a show in Germany, there’s a good chance mr. Rother might join in to jam with his friend. Now, imagine if John and Flea were playing together with Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Michael Rother for good 40 minutes? Dream, huh? That is exactly what happened in Hamburg’s Colorline Arena on 22nd March 2003. I wish there was a video of this, I wish there were at least decent clips of its bits, but there is audio and that’s still something. You can download it here.

One new wallpaper
It’s been ages since I’d made a wallpaper and I’m well-aware of that. So, a new one has been added to the wallpapers gallery. It’s a bit grungy/dark, it might not suit everyone’s taste. And it’s not available in 800×600, only in 1024×768.
A very nice traditional art piece
There’s a new piece in the traditional art gallery, drawn by William Paul Lewis. It looks slightly unusual and it has a very, very positive vibe to it, so I hope you’ll love it as much as I did.
Two fresh visitor-submitted wallpapers
Two wallpapers for bigger screens, in 1280×1024, made by Uli, can be found in the fans’ wallpapers gallery.
Daaaamn, that was long. If you’d made it to the end of this thing, congratulations!
