Site updates

Site updates, 24th September 2008

First of all, I would like to thank you everyone who’s commented on the new site layout. Thank you, everyone, so very much! The roses aren’t blossoming at my day jobs these days and it’s very uplifting, motivating and beautiful to see that someone still likes what I’m creating. As a professional web/graphic designer and somewhat of a web developer, I really am happy to have received such positive feedback from Invisible Movement readers. Thank you, thank you, thank you! ^_^

For everyone who asked: the gear & tabs page and gigography are being built and they’re quite demanding to work on; so many thanks to people who are already helping out. Of course, if you’d like to help with gear and tabs, proceed to the musicians’ forum and look for relevant threads. Information on how to help with the gigography question will follow shortly.

And this would be the list of updates. It’s a bit bigger than usual. In facts, it was cut in two and the second part will come up in a couple of days. I’m totally worn out as this is the time of the year when I work at the Indy 500 speed (I’d prefer the 1995 race, thankyouverymuch), laying out and writing a whole magazine on my own. Thanks for your understanding.

Site content updates

Magazine scans
Rolling Stone (Argentina) – October 2002. Features photos from the January 2001 RHCP concert in Buenos Aires and nice interviews. To be translated soon. Many thanks to Leni for these scans.

TROWFTD Press Hit
Thanks to amazing Gizem who Robin Hood’d such a gem, you can now have a look at another press kit for a solo album. This time, it’s the one for To Record Only Water For Ten Days.

More photos from 04th September
An excellent set of photos taken by Raul Paredes. Thank you so much, Raul! There are tiny video clips from this event as well, but they shall wait for some other occasion. Until then, if you happen to like The Bicycle Thief, Raul runs an excellent Myspace page for them. Visit it!

A pretty much HQ photo taken by Jennifer Ruidera. In case the name rings a bell, this wonderful lady contributed photos from RHCP’s secret show in November 2006 as well. Her Flickr account has just expired and she’s an amazing photographer. If that’s a hint-hint to some of you, good.

Screencaps
On 11th February 2005, the Red Hots have performed a cover of Beach Boys’ I Get Around at the anual MusicaRes dinner. Here are some screencaps of that.

New wallpapers
After almost one year, two new wallpapers created by me for you are waiting to be downloaded in the appropriate gallery section. One is the grandmother of the current site layout and the other one is simply representing this month and the event that gave us all a lot to talk about.

Updates to the info section
John’s quotes on others and Others’ quotes on John have both been updated.

Updates to the discography section
The page on A Sphere In The Heart Of Silence has been completed. The rest of the discography section will be up as soon as the time permits so.

An audio show from 2004
As per request of a really important and supportive contributor of the site, the old recording of Performance 2, the same one that used to be on John’s official site, has been added to the downloads’ section. You can get it here. If you wonder why’s one file too big and the other one too small, it’s the way it has always been; so don’t worry.

Magazine articles
Kerrang!, 06th July 2002
Pulse, August 2002
Blunt, May 2006
La Mano, May 2006 – thanks to Leni for translation from Spanish
Guitar Part, June 2006 – thanks to Clémence for translation from French
Guitar One, September 2006

All the articles in English were typed out by Máté. Thanks for your amazing patience and dedication!

Album reviews
Wonderful Julia has translated two German reviews and more of them are on the way.
To Record Only Water For Ten Days review from laut.de
Inside Of Emptiness review from intro.de

More icons/avatars
Given your positive reactions to their comeback, I have dug out more icons/avatars: so, there are 11 new ones in 100 x 100 (aka, the fifth page) and 3 new ones in 70×70.

Links purged and new links added
Links have been updated and the non-working ones were purged. Check out Funk Psychedelic and Dale Turner’s feature on John’s playing style. In case the name reminds you of something; YES, it’s the author of the three brilliant Guitar One features on JF.

Community updates

Art feature for September – Maja Đeke
Invisible Movement’s first featured artist of the month is Maja Đeke, student from Osijek, Croatia. Go to the art feature page to see examples of her work and read a short question and answer session with Maja. Of course, there are links to places where you can see more of her art.

More readers’ music is up
Sebastian Matar’s cover of Chances is up on the readers’ covers page. Check them out, both are exceptional.

More readers’ music projects added to the list
Check the list for updates.

Site-stuff updates

Maintenance and more maintenance
First of all, there were some minor server outages recently, due to high load. I’ve done what the hosting company told me to do and I have moved two of the databases to a different server, so I do hope that things run smoothly for most of you, even during the peak hours (around midnight CET, for example).

  • The fanlisting was down for a day or so, but now it is working again.
  • Pages in downloads > audio section have been indexed better. If some of them are missing, please do read the text highlighted in pink before you ask anything.
  • Common help questions have been updated, too. I recommend everyone to read that before sending me an angry email asking things I can’t give answers to.

New feed URL for Elsewhere on the web
In order to deliver news from the elsewhere category properly, I created it a Feedburner feed. So, please, update your RSS links to http://feeds.feedburner.com/invisible-movement-e. It differs from the original Invisible Movement news feed for only two more characters, so I guess it is not going to be hard to remember it.

Volunteer Checklist
Thanks to some really, really amazing people, the volunteer checklist is smaller than ever. Almost all the articles in English have been translated, someone’s promised to do a large amount of German translations and there was one French translation, too. Any further help is welcome.
