• I-M.net’s featured musicians for March 2009 – Verna Beware and Sebastian Matar

It has been quite a while since Isabel José was crowned the very first featured musician here on Invisible Movement. Perhaps because there were too many things happening. After the embarrassing six months, it’s the time to introduce TWO features for March. Due to many people being interested, there will be two features a month in April and May as well. The first feature for March are Verna Beware. They’re a five-piece band from Santa Barbara with an unique sound and a very witty approach to their fast-growing fanbase. You can also check out their Myspace. The second feature for March is Sebastian Matar. Sebastian is a half Finnish/half Lebanese…

  • Site updates – 17th March 2009

Before we proceed onto this week’s update, I would like to thank the 13 kind people who donated money for the site and the board’s hosting accounts. The number is small because there was someone who donated almost half of the amount; but each single donation is appreciated equally. Thank you so much. This clears the site’s hosting until July 2010 and the board’s hosting until this time next year. And yes, this was meant to be posted two days ago. Sorry! Look out for a double musician feature later today or early tomorrow. Experi-mental feature in the tabs section Two sets of Polish magazine scans, from 2002 and 2006…

  • Saturday question #6: Do you REALLY believe in everything you read?

Welcome to the sixth edition of Saturday questions. The more or less absurd discussion from the last two days was a direct inspiration for this week’s question. Back in November 2008, the very subject of this website said: I’ll just write whatever I feel like saying whenever I feel like doing it. I don’t like the old media channels and this is a way of communicating to people without the filter of magazines and their bullshit that has nothing to do with music. Long ago, a friend of this website, an anti-panda superbrainsupermom, explained something in the lines of: When a press release, a magazine release, or even a book…

  • Guitarist & Bass, March 2009

John in the March issue of Guitarist & Bass magazine, France

John is on the cover of the current issue of the French magazine Guitarist & Bass and there’s an article on him, too. The tagline is Next to heaven. Here’s a translated excerpt from the article: I’m not interested in being in a band anymore; because during the last 10 years, I’ve spent more than 4 years and a half touring with a band. The Chili Peppers had to perform a huge number of concerts. To me, it represents a very long period of time time when we can barely be creative. I’ll have a show within 2 months, but it won’t be rock. I can’t say anymore about that…

  • A chance to win Bang Face weekender tickets if you create a cool banner and attend a party

If you live in UK (or can be there on Friday) and have not managed to acquire tickets for the Bang Face weekender or you have heard about John and Venetian Snares performing there way too late; there’s a chance for you to win free tickets for the event! On 13th March, Bang Face hosts their Virus Alert party in London; and there will be a banner slogan competition involved. The best submitted banner slogans will win free entry and be put to good use at Camber Sands. Existing ticket holders will be refunded if they win. • Site updates – 09th March 2009

Wow, at last: a “classic” update. Some of these things were meant to be parts of the last update in 2008, but they didn’t make it to it. Things got busy and the computer associated with this website graced the floor with a bunch of droppings three times in two months until it ended up retired. And January & Febuary were more dynamic than ever expected and that’s why a “classic” site update did not take place – though you probably noticed there were many updated along the way. So, here they are, bits and pieces of the first update in 2009. Enormously long, that is. There’s a lot to…

  • Saturday question #5: Cover songs

Welcome to the fifth edition of Saturday question, split in three pieces. This has been a busy week on Invisible Movement and I assume everyone will take some rest this weekend. I do hope that everyone who felt like it donated to the site. A couple more smaller donations will lead to paying both hosting bills. I also hope that all of you have enjoyed the birthday suns. So, we all know amazing cover songs John did, like this one: [media id=124] (Forming II – originally by Germs) This Saturday’s question is: what are your favourites amongst them? Feel free to post links to them, too. Also, what are your…

  • News on Bob And The Monster + the documentary’s director needs your help!

As reported a little more than six months ago; John – as well as Anthony Kiedis and Flea – will be appearing in a documentary film about Bob Forrest, titled Bob And The Monster. Even though it is not stated in the more revent news items, Keirda Bahruth, the director of this upcoming effort, was so kind to confirm that John will indeed be in the movie and that there was no change of plans. A couple of days ago, a call for fans who might have some original material has been posted on Myspace. “Bob and the Monster”, the documentary film about Bob Forrest, is currently filming and set…

  • Happy birthday to John! I-M.net / YFIGTASOF.net project is no longer secret…

First and obvious, John is 39 years old today – HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Now, the time has come to reveal the Super-Secret Project 2009. As some people might’ve guessed, it was meant to be released today. On 23rd January, while sitting and reading a piece of text that couldn’t have been any simpler, yet more goosebumps-worthy; I came up with a very strange idea for a comic, featuring a stickman and a sun balloon. I drew it and showed it to a couple of people. And they liked it. A couple of days later, by a total coincidence, the sun appeared in a context very similar to the one in the…

  • Guitar Player, April 2009 issue – scanned and typed out

In some countries, they’re celebrating Hinamatsuri today; in some others, they only remember the inventor of telephone as he was born on 03.03, too. On Invisible-Movement.net, we’re embracing the power fo more modern means of communication and the beauty of new media… …in other words, John is featured in yet another magazine that’s out. It’s Guitar Player, April 2009 issue. Many thanks to Gizem who, once again, spotted this and sent the scans by the speed of light. You can see all the pages in the gallery; or by clicking on the individual thumbnails below: 9273992743927469274992752 I have typed out the article already for everyone who likes it as text…
