Red Hot Chili Peppers Release Audio of “Not the One”

The audio of the fourth track off the upcoming album Unlimited Love has just been posted to the Red Hot Chili Peppers official YouTube Channel. The song appears to be diving further into the melancholy that the first single and album opener, Black Summer, has already tackled. There are similarities to some beloved tracks off Stadium Arcadium, as well as older stuff, yet it remains easily distinguishable from its precedesors, Black Summer and Poster Child. This pretty much makes the reviewers’ claims true so far – we are in for a very, very eclectic album.

I’m not the person that you thought I was
I’m not the one you thought you knew
I’d do most anything to make you think that I’m the one
I do it all to get to you

You see me as the perfect compliment
You think that I’m someone to choose
You see me in a way that makes me want to reinvent
A person I could turn into

Give me the love and I’ll tell you when I’ll wanna come
Give me the love and I’ll tell you when I’ll wanna run
Blue strides are calling and I can’t stop fallin’
Give me the lov? and I’ll tell you when I’ll wanna run

I don’t look like mys?lf in photographs
Long days of time have been unkind
I miss the you, the one that makes me want to redefine
I’m not the one you fell into
I’m not the one, the one for you

Give me the love and I’ll tell you when I’ll wanna come
Give me the love and I’ll tell you when I’ll wanna run
Blue strides are calling and I can’t stop fallin’
Give me the love and I’ll tell you when I’ll wanna run

As usual, you can listen to the song on a variety of streaming platforms through this link.
