Swahili Blonde

  • Collectors’ update: two colours for Omar & JF vinyl, new book cover…

If you’re one of those people collecting just about everything that’s fresh out of print, this update was intended to make your lives easier. For those waiting to hear more about Saturday’s event – you’ll have to wait a bit more. Orange and purple vinyls for Sepulcros de Miel For the lucky ones whose countries indeed exist and who managed to place their orders for both Omar Rodriguez-Lopez’s albums featuring John – the lo-fi gem Omar Rodriguez Lopez and John Frusciante and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez’s quarter album Sepulcros de Miel; you will be delighted to find out that the second of these is somewhat customisable. What’s the deal? You can have…

  • Clarification: John is not a member of Swahili Blonde (but he was)

The long-awaited review of the Swahili Blonde show at Echoplex by Grimy Goods is finally up. It was long-awaited because they stated that they have spoken to John at some point, to ask him to clarify whether he was a part of the project or not. While this is not an actual interview, just a reference to a brief chat, it should clear up things that were never clearly stated. Or, more likely, never updated. Before you continue reading all this, just one little disclaimer: this website was always supporting the band. And yes, it was because of John (which is absolutely normal coming from a website about him!) and…

  • HQ video and stills from the Swahili Blonde party!

As usual, some people take a couple of days to recover from a great show. Some of them keep their impressions for themselves, which is probably not really cool, but it’s OK. Some of them say a thing or two, take a couple of photos. And some, like our friends Ari and Ernesto go out of their way to bring us a whole Eyjafjallajökull-smoke-explosion worth of awesome. So? So, you’re in for an Invisible Movement exclusive! Here’s Ari’s video of Swahili Blonde performing Dr. Teeth two nights ago at the Echoplex. If you open this entire news page, you’ll also get to see screencaps of Ernesto Mejia‘s video, shoot from…

  • Photos from the Swahili Blonde album release party

We’ve seen the first as-it-happens impressions from the Swahili Blonde album release party this morning, thanks for the wonders of the new media and its “channels”; now it’s the time for more fine-polished stuff, which will be posted as they keep on arriving. If you have photographs of your own, please do send them over. Invisible Movement will never claim your photos as its own and if you’re an owner of another website, they will go online with your own watermark/no watermark (whatever is the way you prefer them). At the same time, this website reserves the right not to publish anything that I feel would be too intrusive/invasive. Thank…

  • John on stage with Swahili Blonde. Details to follow. [updated]

Apparently, the 22+ months of not having had the pleasure to hear and see John live are over. According to numerous reports on Twitter, he has taken the stage with Swahili Blonde for the instrumental track, Dr. Teeth. Some of us are apparently physics so they woke at the right moment to publish it here-as-it-happens. The others should probably not freak out about that and enjoy it. ^_^ Grimy Goods, who have previously given away tickets for this event, report: Frusciante hits the stage with Swahili Blonde finally. You can hear it! But everyone is still very confused. Swahili Blonde! Where’s Frusciante? It’s dark back here but dude does not…

  • Swahili Blonde’s Man Meat – (digital) out today, live tonight

Are you excited? Swahili Blonde’s Man Meat is out…though only digitally. As it was stated previously, the set date for the vinyl LP release is not set in stone. If you need a reminder of why this album is important – John plays guitar on all seven songs and he co-wrote Tigress Ritual. • Swahili Blonde news + a call to everyone going to the album release party

For all the fans of Swahili Blonde visiting Invisible Movement, here’s a compilation of news. There are good news, there are bad news and there’s a call-out. Happy-happy-joy-joy, wheeeeeee! Show reminder – a call out to reporters First of all, are you going to be at the album release party next week? Are you going to take a camera or a cameraphone with you (cameras are, of course, better, but whatev’). If you are, please contact me, as, in case some interesting people show up and actually DO something, that could be their first time in almost two years. Media and reviews will be more than wanted if that is…

  • Here, Air clarification + an(other) Elixor Fixor delay + something new

Since there are a couple of news not really big enough to have news items of their own, they have been combined into a single news, for your convenience. Here, Air clarification As some people noticed, Here, Air, which was on iTunes in USA is no longer there. I contacted Record Collection Music and the nice people there explained that Here, Air was actually never meant to be released as an USA bonus track. It was meant to replace Today as one of the Japanese bonus tracks. However, iTunes had a little hiccup or something and it accidentally became available to USA-based customers. And don’t forget, the other two bonus…
