DJ Moondance’s Shadium Arcadium…exactly what you think it is
On Saturday, Matt aka DJ Moondance released a very interesting 8-track mixtape. He combined eight Red Hot Chili Peppers’ instrumental tracks (seven of which are from both of the John eras) with eight Eminem vocal tracks and created what he calls Shadium Arcadium. The results vary, but some songs, such as Universal Superman, an ecletic mashup of Parallel Universe are actually brilliant. So, if you fancy some unexpected Slim Shady over the Frusciante/Flea/Smith antics, this compilation is free to download over at Crash Album. The tracklisting is below, with explanations which tracks were mashed up. Lost Under A Bridge – Under The Bridge + My Name Is Cleaning Up –…

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez to premier a film in Rotterdam, John is its executive producer
John is credited as an executive producer in Omar Rodriguez-Lopez’s new film, The Sentimental Engine Slayer, which is set to premier at the Rotterdam Film Festival in February. Given that his involvement would probably cause people to speculate though his role is clearly stated, I have asked Cathy Pellow of Sargent House/Refused TV who are behind this project as well, to clarify it and make sure it does not involve music. Her reply was prompt and more than clarifying. Hello. I have just read that John Frusciante was credited as the executive producer for Omar’s film trailer for which is on your Myspace page. In what way is he the…

John and related topics on end of year and end of decade lists
This should’ve probably gone online on the last day of 2009, but many websites and other publications have come up with such lists much later and apparently are still coming up with it; so this list might even end up being updated a couple more times. Read this post until its very end if you think something’s missing, because you can contribute to it. The Empyrean in best of 2009 lists: Popwrecking – Adam Leroy names The Empyrean best album of 2009 and says: The Empyrean opens with an extended guitar solo workout that recalls Pink Floyd Meddle-era. Thus begins a journey that is equal parts rock and folk meshed…

Sargent House founder sheds some light on upcoming Omar/John collab
Sargent House management company/record label owner, Cathy Pellow, was responding to questions on the label’s formspring.me and, amongst other things that might be more interesting to people who follow artists signed to this label; she shed some light on something we could be interested in: A while back you might have mentioned something about an Omar/John Frusciante collab coming soon, is that true or am I just doing some wishful thinking? Omar said that would be something we would be putting out sooner or later, but honestly I don’t know what stage it’s at. he’s got the Trio album coming next and then some other really big surprises so don’t…

Manimal Vinyl announce their Bowie tribute – JF’s in it, too. And it’s for children!
Legendary British rockers Duran Duran have gone ahead and told the world they’re a part of the Manimal Vinyl tribute to David Bowie. And it’s not only them, there’s a line-up of mostly Manimal’s own artists, as well as some surprises. The album is expected to be out in May 2010, and tracks “will start leaking around 15th February” (nice dose of humour). Amongst the other songs on this album, as Invisible Movement found out earlier, thanks to how nice they are over there at Manimal, there will be Swahili Blonde’s cover of Red Money, where John can be heard both as one of the guitars and the backing vocal…

Happy New year 2010 and happy new decade!
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all visitors of Invisible Movement! Srećna Nova godina! Buon anno. I mean it and you can listen to it below. [xspf]_start(FALSE, ‘order=89&mode=2’)[/xspf] [xspf]_start(FALSE, ‘order=90&mode=2’)[/xspf] [xspf]_start(FALSE, ‘order=91&mode=2’)[/xspf] I’ll shut up now in all those languages and let you watch this beautiful video from the performance 12, one of the nicest gems that graced our ears in the noughties and a great way to start the noughteens with. On the 05th August of 2004, John played with his friend, the German legend Michael Rother (whose songs you totally have to buy – Katzenmusik album is breathtaking, so is the song Reiselust!) and Josh Klinghoffer jumped in, too. Beautiful,…

New Swahili Blonde song on Myspace, “LeMampatee”
For everyone who’s interested, there’s a new Swahili Blonde song posted on Myspace and it is called LeMampatee (whatever that may mean). It appears to be mostly sung in an imaginary language similar to French and it’s quite catchy. Enjoy! Until that stuff is available to obtain legally, there’s always Elixor Fixor, which is on iTunes and features some mighty JF guitar awesomeness. You might also want to check out: Original news post on Swahili Blonde More on the project + some exclusive info from Manimal Vinyl Updated artwork, featuring cute giraffes Message board topic on Swahili Blonde

Saturday question #45: Looking back at 2009 and hopes for 2010
Last week, there was obviously no Saturday question, as sending a little love in return was much more important (and that post will be open for a long time, so send a heart if you have not done so yet), but since people appear to be very interested – and can probably guess what it is going to be this time – here it is. This week’s question was asked by our friend Bojana, a long-term site contributor and an awesome moderator over there at Your forum is glued to a site on fire. I’m pasting it here in its entiety: OK, 2009 is almost over..what happened to you during…

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez talks about John in his Guitar Player interview
Omar Rodriguez-Lopez of The Mars Volta, El Grupo Nuevo de Omar Rodriguez Lopez and a bunch of other projects is talking about what he learnt from John, how he influenced him and what was his role in recording the band’s album Octahedron, which was published back in June. Guitar Player – What picks and strings do you use? Omar Rodriguez-Lopez – I like the orange Dunlop Tortex picks and I use Ernie Ball strings gauged .013 to .056 with a wound third. Wow, is that why you don’t use a lot of vibrato? Maybe. I never realized my strings were so heavy until other guitar players were like “What the…

Give a little love in return…with a heart!
Errr…hello, Invisible Movement visitors, this is your webmaster. You wanted to “hear my opinion on this”, as if it would matter, so here you go. Way too many people have asked me super-bizzare stuff for the past couple of days: to change every single bit of text that says John is the guitarist of Red Hot Chili Peppers, to change the keywords for the site, to do this…to do that. Some even asked if this site would go on (and why wouldn’t it? O_o). On the other side, I was confused by how many people were suddenly inviting their friends to join their “I want John Frusciante back in RHCP”…
