• Fantastic Nature contest is on – 28th March to 26th April 2010

It hasn’t been long since the March contest and its results and we’re already heading to another contest in April. After many people really loved the so-called Super-Secret Project and the spontaneous showing of support in 2009, I thought it would be really interesting to do something art-related this time. However, all the above contents had some sort of limitations – this one will only have a theme. It will be a lot like the May 2008 contest that was, sadly, canceled. Nature has always been somehow tied closely to the things covered on this website – and with the most recent interesting project the subject of this website is…

  • Exclusive preview of John’s 45-minute interview on The Heart Is A Drum Machine

This is an exclusive sent to Invisible Movement thanks to the kind people from the Sneak Attack media: a 47-seconds clip of the 45 minute bonus interview with John on The Heart Is A Drum Machine DVD. And yes, 45 minutes, not 25 as previously said (many thanks to Tom who first pointed out this important difference). Here’s what John says in this excerpt, as transcribed by Chili_Pat (slightly corrected by Chris G and Jen): “The thing that, the thing that makes it possible for one person to be in the right place at the right time in their life to create the things that they create… It has to…

  • Here, Air (13th song off The Empyrean) released on iTunes in USA

First of all, for everyone who missed it, The Empyrean recordings, at least those meant to be public, contain 13 tracks, not 12. The 13th track is called Here, Air. After it appeared in an announcement on a future release on iTunes a year ago and disappeared soon after, nice people from Record Collection Music explained that it was meant to be a part of a 13-track digital re-release of The Empyrean, which contains the Japanese edition bonus tracks, Today and Ah Yom as well. This was in March 2009 and well, it’s been a long time. As of earlier today, Here, Air is available in the iTunes USA store.…

  • Ibanez WH10V2 specs and demonstration videos

There hasn’t been any talk of the re-issue of Ibanez’s WH10 pedal here in a while, but it appears that people are very interested and constantly asking about this pedal. Our friend Cary Smith has recorded and edited two demonstration videos of the legendary pedal’s new version. In the first part, he’s going over the specs of the pedal, and in the second video, he’s testing its sound by playing Red Hot Chili Peppers’ BloodSugarSexMagik, Sir Psycho Sexy, Mercy Mercy, She’s Only 18 and Get On Top as well as John’s Before The Beginning. These are the demos… …and these are the specs of WH10V2 If you have done your…

  • A chronology of John’s career in March 2010 issue of Strange Days

The March 2010 issue of Japanese magazine Strange Days (issue 124), is dedicated to 40 years of progressive rock and many artists are covered, mostly through retrospectives of their careers. So is John. The article is six pages long and it concerns both his solo work and the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ albums with him. There is basically nothing new in the article, but there might be a translation in near future. Click the thumbnails to go to the pages with individual scans in the gallery or click here. 972849728897291972949729797300 The magazine appears to be on eBay and it contains many other articles on progressive musicians. Many thanks to Tomoko…

  • Two albums featuring Omar & John to be released soon!

This just in, as per the ever-so-helpful Cathy Pellow of The Sargent House, on the label’s Twitter stream. The Rodriguez-Lopez/Frusciante collaboration that’s been rumoured since August last year is destined to see the light of the day soon. At this point, it’s not clear what “soon” is, but here is the original item, in all its glory: Omar called… two more albums dropping soon some guy name John Frusciante and him – rings a bell…. oh hell yes. @orlproductions Here’s a link to the original tweet. Later on, the following questions were also answered (thank you, Kitt of The Mars Volta Italia for the heads-up!): Do you happen to know…

  • John chords and Satriani’s comment on departure in Guitar World, April 2010

There’s yet another snippet concerning John in the April 2010 issue of Guitar World. This time, it does not concern his departure from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, as the last month’s one-page feature did, it’s about what really matters – music and playing style. The snippet concerns seventh chords. For everyone who needs help finding the magazine- this issue of Guitar World has a psychedelic cover with a Jimi Hendrix headshot in the centre, just like on the preview thumbnail of this article. Click the thumbnails to go to the pages with the scans in the gallery or click here. 9725297303 In addition to this, elsewhere in the magazine,…

  • Vote for John in The Axe Factor poll for the best guitarist of last 30 years

According to the BBC’s radio 6, contemporary guitar players are often overlooked in most of the existing polls for the world’s greatest axemen. Therefore, they have come up with a poll to determine who are the greatest guitarists of the last 30 years – from 1980 to 2010. Click here to go to the voting page! There are 40 people you can vote for and, as expected, John is one of them. Scroll down to somewhere in the middle of the list, check the checkbox next to his name, scroll to the bottom and hit the black button that says “vote”. If everything went well, you’ll even get a little…

  • Happy 40th birthday to John!

John is turning forty sometime today and, on that occasion, regardless of all the obstacles, circumstances et cetera, Invisible Movement (which is me and all of you who won’t comment on this for whatever your reasons are) would like to wish him a very, very happy year ahead and at least as many years as he’s had so far. As we say here, срећан рођендан / srećan roÄ‘endan! ^_^ For everyone who participated in last year’s giant collage of suns, also known as the Super-Secret project 2009, this year there won’t be such a thing. Those things are only fun when they’re done once as a surprise and not year…
