Swahili Blonde As it was just posted on the band's Myspace, Swahili Blonde are going to play live in Los Angeles in spring/summer 2010. More details to follow as soon as they're known.

The band will contain of:
Laena (Myers-Ionnita) : violin, bass
Dante (?) : bass, guitar
Alan (Myers) : drums, percussion
(Michael) Quinn : string synth, guitar, cello, percussion
John (Frusciante) : guitar
Nicole (Turley) : drums, vocals
Heather (?) : vocals
Arianna (?) : vocals

The whole blog entry can be read here and it is also said that the band's rehearsals are going well, thanks to wonderful friends and talents involved. From a listener's side, it is obviously interesting to see how a project builds up.

Guys, you know what it means? If you can be there, give a shout! ^_^

14 Reactions to Swahili Blonde to play live in Los Angeles this year, John on guitar

  1. Red_Strat says:

I actually don't like their music.

But I would give my last shirt to see John live, I'm going to be there (maybe).

How do you know that it's really John "Frusciante", they never gave any statement, that "John" is "John Frusciante", right?

  2. Cured says:

    Thats great, despite the fact that its not in Europe. I think it would cost me to much to reach LA this year. So Im hopeful to see some video footage from event;}

  3. Sissy says:

I probably won't be able to go but just knowing that things are brewing it pretty cool.

And I don't think there is much doubt that John is John, among other things, he is consistently mentioned in all the press around the David Bowie tribute cd.

  4. Caleb says:

It's times like these that I wish I lived in Los Angeles and not the east coast. Grr. I love Swahili Blonde's stuff. Its weird O_o. But a good weird. A veryyyy good weird.

  5. Eugene says:

You probably should stay home if you can't appreciate the music. don't think mr. frusciante wants people gawking at him cause he was in the chili peppers and not enjoy what he does now.

  6. Shade says:

Pretty cool that 'John One' will be joining them at this gig. I wonder if he'll do an entire tour with them too.

  7. Harry P says:

    preordered my 7" :D

  8. Appleheadchiuaua says:

I hear rumours that John 2 is John Taylor from Duran Duran!! He plays bass on Tigress!

  9. Tom says:

johns guitar is lost in the chaos of these other musicians. i'd love to just hear frusciantes guitar on a click track.

    • CMD313 says:

That's what I said when they changed LeMampatee, but I got yelled on. HIS GUITAR IS SHY!

Then again, his guitar also shy in Macy Gray's Sweet Baby.

  10. ian says:

I think they sound really original, and a bit weird, nothing wrong with that! And John's guitar parts sound super funky and inspired, I can't wait to see some footage. Also as a side note I 'd really like to thank Iva for making this site, I've been following it for years, so thanks for all the time you spend on it!!!! Ian

Interesting, John Taylor has done his part on the song 'Tigress'. Pretty cool tune, I might say!
