Two albums featuring Omar & John to be released soon!
This just in, as per the ever-so-helpful Cathy Pellow of The Sargent House, on the label’s Twitter stream. The Rodriguez-Lopez/Frusciante collaboration that’s been rumoured since August last year is destined to see the light of the day soon. At this point, it’s not clear what “soon” is, but here is the original item, in all its glory:
Omar called… two more albums dropping soon some guy name John Frusciante and him – rings a bell…. oh hell yes. @orlproductions
Here’s a link to the original tweet.
Later on, the following questions were also answered (thank you, Kitt of The Mars Volta Italia for the heads-up!):
Do you happen to know if someone else is featured on the ORL + John Frusciante collab?
One album is just Omar and John. The other is the quartet which is Omar, Juan, John and Marcel.
The albums Omar recorded with John are going to be released separately or at the same time?
I will give information when it’s ready. Some things are left to be found out – enjoy surprises. I do.
In case you have not yet realised how beautiful the collaborations between these two virtuosos and friends are, I have compiled a list of all their collaborations known to public, excluding The Mars Volta albums after Frances The Mute, where John would normally appear on each track and a the band’s cover of Nick Drake’s Things Behind The Sun, which couldn’t have been found. Close your eyes and enjoy the beautiful fruits of their creativity. Roll over the songs’ names to see what John contributed to Omar’s records and vice-versa.
