Rob Alvord explains why he loves John so much
In a brief interview with In Utah This Week, singer-songwriter Rob Alvord was asked about his appreciation for John.
Why are you so intrigued by guitarist John Frusciante?
It is such a Cinderella Story. The man literally came back from the dead and resurrected a band’s stardom, to which he had originally helped become a phenomenon when he was only 19 years old. Truly, only a man who had been to hell and back has the understanding and ability to channel raw human emotion into sound waves the way that John Frusciante does.
In addition to this, Rob has a whole writeup on John on his Myspace blog. His music is nice, so make sure you check it out.
For everyone who doesn’t remember, here’s a list of people who have mentioned liking John’s music as of the last five years:
Anthony Famiglietti, US Olympic steeplechaser (who also wrote to me to say thanks – nice guy!)
Manic Street Preachers, legendary British alt-rock band
Jules de Martin of The Ting Tings
Albert Hammond Jr. of The Strokes
Keith Murray of We Are Scientists
Adrien Brody, acclaimed actor
Yumi Yoshimura of Puffy Ami-Yumi
Glenn Hughes – rock singer and bassist
Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day
Katie Melua, female singer/songwriter
That’s one long list and it’s probably not complete, so additions are always welcome, but I bet you knew that already.
*Many thanks to GoodTimeBoys for the heads-up.
