  • Guitarist & Bass, March 2009

John in the March issue of Guitarist & Bass magazine, France

John is on the cover of the current issue of the French magazine Guitarist & Bass and there’s an article on him, too. The tagline is Next to heaven. Here’s a translated excerpt from the article: I’m not interested in being in a band anymore; because during the last 10 years, I’ve spent more than 4 years and a half touring with a band. The Chili Peppers had to perform a huge number of concerts. To me, it represents a very long period of time time when we can barely be creative. I’ll have a show within 2 months, but it won’t be rock. I can’t say anymore about that…

  • Guitar Player, April 2009 issue – scanned and typed out

In some countries, they’re celebrating Hinamatsuri today; in some others, they only remember the inventor of telephone as he was born on 03.03, too. On Invisible-Movement.net, we’re embracing the power fo more modern means of communication and the beauty of new media… …in other words, John is featured in yet another magazine that’s out. It’s Guitar Player, April 2009 issue. Many thanks to Gizem who, once again, spotted this and sent the scans by the speed of light. You can see all the pages in the gallery; or by clicking on the individual thumbnails below: 9273992743927469274992752 I have typed out the article already for everyone who likes it as text…

  • Guitarist Magazine, March 2009 issue

John on the cover of March 2009 issue of Guitarist (UK)

John is on the cover of the March 2009 issue of the respected and longest-established UK magazine, Guitarist. The last time he was on the cover of this magazine, it was April 2004 (you can remind yourselves of it by looking at the scans and the article, btw!). In the article he’s discussing The Empyrean, the equipment used and comparing the album to previous releases. You can order the magazine by clicking here or on the preview picture. If anyone could send in scans, that would be amazing. A couple of people offered to do so, but as they’re not having luck with scanners, help would be MUCH appreciated. ^_^

  • John on cover/featured in Vintage Guitar, April 2009 issue

John is on cover and featured in the April 2009 issue of Vintage Guitar Magazine. Here’s a little excerpt on this issue from their site: Best known for his work with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Frusciante thoroughly enjoys every aspect of making music, and continuously experiments with new and unusual ways to create it. As a teenager, Frusciante became interested in writing and recording his own music. He started making solo albums years ago, and with the luxury of having his own recording studio, Frusciante has combined personal recording techniques developed through experimentation with tricks of the trade learned from celebrated producer Rick Rubin. You can see some…

  • Guitar World, April 2009 issue -nothing new, but still cool

There’s a two page article on John in the April 2009 issue of Guitar World. Basically, the photos are from 2005 and 2007 and the article itself is an abridged version of the MusicRadar interview, which is pretty logical as both Guitar World and MusicRadar are owned by the same company. It appears that some of the questions asked in the first two parts of the interview were readers’ questions as well. So, I assume some people who might’ve thought their questions weren’t answered should have another look now that it’s clearer. Either way, for all of you who missed it or want it in a printed form, grab the…

  • A two-page article in February issue of Teraz Rock (PL)

There’s an article on John, two pages long, in the February 2009 issue of Polish magazine Teraz Rock with a pic from the Chorzow show in 2007; so if you live in Poland and think this is worth buying the magazine, go and grab it. If not, well, you can read it if you click on this picture preview. Many thanks to Michalina for having sent this. Also, if anyone could give a go translating this, that would be perfect; as she doesn’t have the time to do it at the moment. The article is mostly related to The Empyrean, the album’s personnel, the concept behind it, with a little…

  • John on the cover of February 2009 issue of Guitar Magazine (Japan)

After a long time, here it is, a feature article and a cover, coming from the country that turned out to be a bit more privilleged when it comes to the new album. John is on the cover of the February 2009 issue of Japanese edition of Guitar Magazine and there’s a whole story inside, obviously focusing on recording of The Empyrean. This magazine is already available in stores. More details on this to follow and many, many thanks to wonderful Noriko for the heads-up on this awesome find! For now, you can click on this scan of the cover image to preview it in a bigger size; and, as…

  • Me And My Friends in the latest issue of Kerrang!

I know it’s a bit late to announce this, but you still have a couple of days to get it. There’s an article with some sneak previews of photos from Me And My Friends in 22nd October issue of Kerrang! So, if you live in UK or somewhere where Kerrang! is available, you can grab a copy and perhaps scan it. There’s more on the current issue on this page, but the description isn’t that much revealing. Post scriptum: If anyone could send a copy of this over to a Kerrang-less country, this site’s owner appreciate it and return the favour with a small surprise. Thanks in advance.

  • RHCP feature in September/October issue of Guitarist & Bass (FR)

There’s a little RHCP feature in the September/October issue of French magazine Guitarist & Bass. The feature does not focus on John’s playing only; it’s disecting the unique and easily recognisable guitar playing style that all the major RHCP axemen were carrying on from year to year. So, Jack Sherman, Hillel Slovak and Dave Navarro are mentioned as well. If you click here you’ll be taken to the gallery page with all the four scans of this feature as the absolutely amazing Gizem has sent them in already. There are ten style figures, you can also get audio samples if you purchase the magazine.

  • Some video lessons in Total Guitar, January 2008 issue

There’s some RHCP and John in this month’s issue of Total Guitar (the one with Dave Grohl on the cover), as the CD with a photo of John on its cover is attached to the magazine. There’s nothing in the magazine itself, so put the CD in your computer, wait for it to load, then when the menu appears, go to video licks, to access tutorials on riffs for four of the five Stadium Arcadium singles (Dani California, Tell Me Baby, Snow and Hump De Bump) as well as the title track. The files are in lower quality .flv format and, just to make it clear, although John is on…
