  • A nice and helpful article in Guitarist, January 2008 issue

62686 There is a nice feature on John’s playing in the Learn section of the January 2008 issue of Guitarist magazine, with tabs for If You Have To Ask, the track which the music editor of the magazine, Jason Sidwell, recommends for “studying funky stylings of one of the world’s biggest bands. Click on the thumbnail or here to look at the scans. Be sure to buy the magazine, as this is included on the CD that comes with it as well. For more info on where to purchase the magazine, head over to guitarist.co.uk

  • September/October 2007 issue of Tape Op magazine

(thanks Maggie!) Tape Op independent magazine will have a John feature in their September/October issue, the scans of which are not on their website yet. I reckon the article would be very interesting to read, as it contains information on John’s next solo album where Flea and Josh Klinghoffer will also be featured; and Ryan Hewitt is being interviewed as well. Also, someone from the Tape Op community quotted that John is actually making a reference to a back issue of the magazine. Does anyone here have a subscription to that magazine? It’s an independent one and the subscriptions are free, but available to people who record music only.

  • Total Guitar, July 2007

If you hurry up and especially if you don’t live in UK, chances are you’ll still be able to grab the July issue of Total Guitar, with tabs to Californication. Sorry that this was not posted in July, apparently, none of the I-M.net scouts from UK knew it. Luckily, I found this magazine in a shop here in Serbia today and scanned the tabs, so you can view them here. I apologise for the weird line on each scan, I think it’s time for me to get a new scanner. This is the second scanner that has died because of the material for this site, weird enough.

  • John on the cover of German Guitar magazine, RHCP legends special inside

John is on the cover of this month’s Guitar magazine (Germany) and there’s a whole special about Red Hot Chili Peppers inside. The magazine’s website is under this link and it would be very nice if someone could provide scans of this, translate, send in the magazine, or, well…any of those. For information on how to subscribe to the magazine, click here.

  • Rolling Stone scans have arrived!

As promised, here are the scans of the cover story of the February 01st issue of Rolling Stone. John’s on the cover with Derek Trucks and John Mayer. 7839784678567854 Have a look at them here and the article is the same one posted yesterday.

  • The new guitar gods article preview and a video clip

Rolling Stone did what they promised and they posted a sneak preview of the issue that’s out this Friday, 09th February 2007. To watch the video, go here and if you want to save it, there might be something helpful in the forum here *hint-hint* As soon as the article is out, Invisible Movement’s elf over there in USA will get her hands on it, so watch this space.

  • John to be on the next Rolling Stone cover!

John Frusciante, John Mayer and Derek Trucks are the cover-men for the next issue of Rolling Stone…apparently, they have been called The New Guitar Gods. The wait is over: You are officially privy to the powerful knowledge of who graces the next cover of Rolling Stone. (Don’t you feel special?) We joined John Mayer, Derek Trucks and John Frusciante at the Los Angeles covershoot to witness behind-the-scenes shenanigans. The highlights? The ever-loquacious Mayer politely declined to wear any of the clothes the stylist had selected for him, saying, “Rolling Stone is the cool jacket, so to wear the cool jacket is redundant.” Trucks had his kids in tow. He travels…

  • John on the TG cover again!

John is on the cover of the British magazine Total Guitar again. This time, he’s there because he was a runner up to Synyster Gates of Avenged Sevenfold as the readers’ choice guitarist of the year 2006. In the same poll, Red Hot Chili Peppers won the best band, best album and best music video awards. I do not have scans of this yet myself, as the magazine has not arrived to Serbia yet (hint-hint!), so you can check them out at Jane’s John Frusciante page, as Jane is the unofficial fast-John-article-scanning European champion for 2006 and she finds absolutely everything.

  • Guitar Player, November 2006 issue

John is on the cover of the next month’s issue of Guitar Player and there’s a long interview with him inside. Among other things, he’s explaining which effects were used on which song on Stadium Arcadium. Some excerpts from the interview can be found on the magazine’s official website. Scans and transcript will be on the site shortly, as one of the I-M.net fairies is on her way to grab the magazine;) For now, here’s the cover:
