Red Hot Chili Peppers

  • Girl Talk used Under The Bridge riff on their song

Gregg Gillis alias Girl Talk has used the riff from Under The Bridge on his newest album, which is a medley of otherwise unconnectable songs. There’s a particularly wonderful moment near the end of the album where Lil Wayne’s ubiquitous “Lollipop” slips inside John Frusciante’s lyrical guitar riff from the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Under the Bridge.” They are songs separated by two decades and two cultures, but in the context created by Gillis, they couldn’t be more right for each other. The review is from Chicago Tribune and you can buy the album at Illegalart.net for any price you choose.

  • George Clinton’s next album to feature RHCP

According to the story found at Soultracks; Red Hot Chili Peppers will be among the collaborators on George Clinton’s new effort, Radio-Friendly, the release date of which is said to be 03rd September 2008. It is not clear whom exactly he’s collaborating with, but guess we can take rough predictions seeing who the other collaborators are. Other guests will be Sly Stone, Carlos Santana, RZA, El Debarge, Kim Burrel, Shavo Odadjian and members of the P-Funk All Stars. George Clinton has a way of not only crossing musical boundaries but also generational boundaries. As a result, the musicians on Radio Friendly came of age in different eras and come from…

  • Justice set to produce the 10th RHCP album?

As quotted on In The Mix.com.au, Pedro “Busy P” Winter could be linked with producing the next RHCP album. No longer managing France’s most famous electronic music duo, Daft Punk, Busy P’s attentions have no doubt turned towards growing his Ed Banger empire. And, what better way to do that than by getting his biggest signing to date – Justice – to work with one of the world’s most gigantically enormous rock bands? Apparently RHCP’s frontman Anthony Kiedis has been a fan of Justice for quite some time, using their music as the perfect warm-up before he stages to the stage. For that reason, the rumour that Justice would produce…

Some people (including whoever wrote this) think that there’s no reason to panic. Some others, like NME are pessimistic or they’re just, plain and simple, trying to get visitors and sell their paper. And what do YOU think?

  • For all of you who wanted to know what the rest of RHCP are up to…

…it took a couple of days to find a proper, reliable answer, but here it is. ^_^ Anthony was interviewed by Rolling Stone this week, and here is what he said about the band’s one-year-break, where they are, what they’re doing and what the future holds. What’s the status of the Red Hot Chili Peppers? We’re disbanded for the moment. We actually took a very long time to make the Stadium Arcadium record, because we wrote a lot of songs and then got way too married to them and decided we need it to be a double album. Which was a great experience, but it took forever. It was really…

  • Californication is in top five comeback albums on 411mania

In the 411 Mania‘s column top 5, this week’s theme is Top 5 comeback albums and, according to Dan Marsicano, What The Hell Happened To…, News, Reviewer, Californication made it to the top. And, naturally, the explanation focuses on John. 5. Californication: by Red Hot Chili Peppers – The mid-90’s were probably the bleakest period for the funk metal band Red Hot Chili Peppers. 1995’s One Hot Minute didn’t sell as well as their previous albums and relations between new guitarist Dave Navarro and the band deteriorated. Former guitarist John Frusciante was near death from a drug addition that was eating him alive and the other band members started to…
