Trailer for Bob And The Monster & fundraising alert!
Most of you will remember that nearly two years ago, it was made known that the Sundance Film Festival’s Grand Jury Prize-winning producer Keirda Bahruth is doing a documentary on Bob Forrest – the iconic frontman of Thelonious Monster and The Bicycle Thief, nowadays a solo artist and counselor of the Celebrity Rehab show. I’m more than glad to inform you the film has been completed and the trailer is available for you to watch! John is, of course, featured in it; talking about Bob Forrest who, to remind those who don’t know, discovered his talents. In case you’re fond of screencaps (more than six years of running this website…

Andy Gill: “Chili Peppers based career on us”
As per a couple of different news sources – Andy Gill, producer and Gang of Four member, claims that the Red Hot Chili Peppers based their career on his band’s career. Moreover, he claims that Can’t Stop is more or less plagiarism. “The guitar on their single ‘Can’t Stop’ was directly from one of our early songs and when I heard it I thought ‘that’s going a bit far’. I bumped into their bass player, Flea, a few years back at a party and he said, ‘Andy, I just don’t understand why you’ve never sued us’.” He also reflected on the famous turd in the pizza box incident during the…

Top 250 albums of Q’s Lifetime – RHCP’s “Californication” listed
In the upcoming, February 2011 issue of British Q Magazine, which is at the moment available solely to its subscribers and set to hit the news stands on 31st December, there’s a list of 250 best albums published in Q’s lifetime, as voted by its readers. The magazine was first published late in 1986, therefore having witnessed roughly 24 years of great music, good music, bad music and, well, awful music. Their list appears to be more realistic than XFM’s Top 1000 Songs Of All Time, so picking this up would be a logical recommendation. Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 1999 comeback album, Californication is on the list and there’s a…

19 RHCP songs, 17 with John, on a top-1000 list by XFM
Eminent British radio XFM, with help of its readers, has compiled a list of the Top 1000 Songs Of All The Time and it’s most entirely made out of rock and alternative music; which isn’t a big surprise given who their listeners are. 19 songs by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, 17 of which are from both John eras, have been selected for this list. They’re all the same page, and the list begins here. Here are all the songs that made the list, listed by albums, as it is more convinient that way. Sadly, only one of them was not released as a single, the rest are all overplayed…

Omar Rodriguez Lopez & John Frusciante now on CD
The collaboration self-titled album of Omar Rodriguez Lopez & John Frusciante which was digitally released for charity earlier this year and scheduled for a physical release in Japan was out this week in the said country and it (un)expectedly ended up on Amazon Japan’s besteseller list as #2 in the Music > Alternative Rock and #22 in Music > Rock section. While this might be unimportant to the artists themselves, it sure is important for their listeners and it shows that the country on those islands over there has some good taste in alternative music! And what’s in there for you? Well, the album will be available in USA and…

For all of you eagerly awaiting the first release by Speed Dealer Moms on vinyl, you will have to wait a tiny bit more, as there was a pressing failure. Reactions to the new Red Hot Chili Peppers book and photos
Since The Red Hot Chili Peppers: An Oral/Visual History saw the light of the day a couple of weeks ago; there have been many reactions to it. (Un)surprisingly enough, many of them were out-of-the-box and picked from Reuters, so if you want a true opinion on the book, you’re better off getting yourself a copy. The Reuters story sums up what the book is about and calls it a nostalgic window into the future, rather than a resume of what has happened before. Nearing the end of their summary, they quote Flea’s feelings about the book. “A picture book by its nature is a nostalgic thing,” Flea said. “Going back…

Site updates – 14th November 2010
Whoa. It’s been eons since the last classic site update. In fact, it took place on 17th March 2009 and there were many of them planned in the meantime, but it’s been a hectic time so…if you submitted anything to the site between 18th March 2009 and today, it’s either a part of this update or one of the next 3-4 ones. Please, have patience and don’t bug me unless your contribution doesn’t show up by the end of 2010 – in that case, it might have got lost. To those who are mad enough to resend emails every two days – stop it. Please. For those who are new,…
