Swahili Blonde have just revealed the album art and credits for their upcoming album, Man Meat, which will be published sometime this year. As expected, John is playing guitar on all tracks, but he is not involved in producing duties, as it was actually said last year, when Nicole Turkey was interviewed for the Tom Tom magazine. However, John is credited for writing of Tigress Ritual, alongside Duran Duran's John Taylor, while Turley was in charge of mixing and producing all the songs. The album's mastering was done by another big name - Aaron Funk aka Venetian Snares aka the second half of Speed Dealer Moms.

There are two more images in the album, go to Man Meat, LP to view them.

You might notice that more instruments were added to the previously bare-bones instrumental, Dr. Teeth and a couple of other similar changes. Either way, something nice to look forward to in 2010! ^_^

40 Reactions to Swahili Blonde’s Man Meat – tracklisting, credits, album art

  1. unfrieden says:

This project is still so strange.
All those people making totally different music, and then it's produced by Venetian Snares...
    just weird.

But I'm curious about the final LP anyway.

Still waiting for Speed Dealer Moms though. ;)

  2. N.S says:

I don't know what to think about Swahili Blonde...
don't know, but i don't like most of their songs..
maybe I have to listen more to their music..

    • Adriane says:

Yep, I don't like their music either...
      Horrible music...unlistenable...
Please John release more quality music like you did before.

      • N.S says:

It's the project of his girlfriend, maybe thats why he is involved in this project ;)

        • I hate idiots. says:

Who gives a fuck if it's his girlfriend's project. That doesn't change anything about it.

          • N.S says:

you're right , it don't change the project. But I suppose it's fun to make music with your girlfriend :) And i doubt that if Nicole wasn't his girlfriend, john would be part of the band. But I don't like "if". We all want that John is doing what he wants to do. And it's your own opinion if you like Swahili Blonde or not. And the fact I don't like this doesn't mean that I don't like strange or experimental music. I like bands like dead can dance or ataxia. And please don't call me an idiot. You don't even know me. ( sorry for my bad English but i do my best ;)

  3. Shade says:

I'm not surprised that this isn't everyone's cup of proverbial tea, but I like it quite a bit. The album cover isn't too great though, might've been cooler with some jungle animals prancing about on it!

  4. Jen says:

God, freakin' Yoko Turley and her fantabulous drum machine. This album doesn't even deserve John's spit on it. Happy birthday btw JF!

And, again, I think it is cool if people like this, but I have liked just about everything I have ever heard John do, and this sucks no matter how many big names this nobody can get put on it. (Talking about Curly Turley here.) I mean seriously, look me in the face and tell me she has done this on her own merit and not because her boyfriend is high and convinced some friends to do it.

And, I am not meaning that in a joking way. I really think he is back on drugs again and it absolutely breaks my heart!

  5. Eugene says:

i'm glad happy swahili blonde is disappointing you people. you are the people that don't like to go much below the mainstream and are afraid of gettin a lil' psychadelic. go listen to some green day and weezer and let frusciante's freak flag fly.

    • N.S says:

you can't say that if we do'n't like swahili blonde, we don't like experimental music!

    • anna says:

there‘s a difference between "not being mainstream" and just being plain crap.

i totally agree with jen. especially since turley likes to brag how everything was done by herself on this album.

i don't know how such a smart man can be so blind.

  6. Iva says:

No, both sides of this are really stupid - and you will both live convinced that you're right...good luck with that, the Medusa-theory-fan and the hippie-for-the-sake-of-it fan. Call back when you grow up and realise that image is NOTHING.

  7. Perrine says:

So John Frusciante is actually weak and prideless enough to go back on drugs and get involved in things he doesn't believe in, as soon as they are not "red hot" ones ?

    That's a gloomy vision, isn't it ?

He is a responsible MAN. You may not appreciate the projects he is involved in but isn't it awful to treat him as a "good junkie dog" ?

Though, now I may understand why he didn't say a word about his quitting the rhcp... Such reactions from people who are claiming themselves as being "fans" must be disappointing, saddening exhausting...

    • Iva says:

And that's probably why he chooses not to communicate with people, too. They either try to be carbon copies of him, think he's exactly into what they are and thinking about it the way they do (Narcissism, I assume? Thinking of somebody as a partial mirror of yourself? Thinking somebody was born exactly to be YOUR guiding light? I don't think so!) or are eternally disappointed with him because he doesn't do what they want. All those approaches are wrong. We're being given words and music, not lifestyle, cult, fashion trends...and that's the only thing that matters.

Some principles are just the same, regardless of a person being "public" or not. And public does not mean public domain, anyway. I'm glad someone sees things logically here. <3

      • Shade says:

I agree with you two. It's hard to find some genuine positivity amidst these developments.

People should understand that John's music is a gift, not a promise. I don't like it when people dumb down someone's repertoire to a dental payment plan or something of the sort. What do I mean with that? The "leaving RHCP for Swahili Blonde" thing, that's so primitive (and binary), but it proves that so many see the band life as such a be-all. Noone, musician or not, is such a simple embodiment of their job or the person they're last seen associating with.

And even if they are, that gives noone a right to be so vindictive about it. It'd be better to just see it as finding out something new about someone - that happens to people I actually /know/ all the time. Don't critique everything deviating from your ideal-person worship. For that matter, you probably shouldn't mirror it either, for the're two sides to that idolisation coin. Frankly I think it's dehumanising and sad to see anyone going about it like that, but then that's a natural symptom of how our modern society is ordained and how human psychology copes with it. Bah. Come on people!

      • Perrine says:

Even you aren't always right Iva...
        There are always people inbetween.
You are convicting people very fast just because they don't agree with you.

        • Perrine says:

Ehr... I have no monopoly over the name "Perrine", though it's a bit confusing to read a message that doesn't fit to my opinion posted under the same name as mine... :o

          • Iva says:

That's got to be a new trend...apparently, I have a stunt double, too and he/she/it wants "childs" with John (as they said here).

Soon, very soon, people will be able to reserve their names properly...say, May or June. There haven't been abuses of this feature before.

And well, everyone who thinks they can't be caught using someone else's name...oh yes, they can. The fake Perrine is from Germany. Banned the IP address, so let's see what happens.

  8. Buller says:

Swahili Blonde has a serious On-U Sound Records vibe and reminds me occasionally of early African Head Charge. I'm really glad this is seeing the light of day on vinyl. I always welcome Frusciante's freak flag and hope future projects he contributes to are as non-mainstream as Swahili Blonde.

    • jbuller7 says:

Just a quick one... Was wondering about your name and where in the world your from.

  9. Roy says:

I guess the reason everyone is bashing john a little bit for making this weird swahili music is because in RHCP he fit perfectly, a great guitarist and melody writer, but in this its like "Why the hell did he leave the best thing in his life to play this kinda music?" And when you adore something so much, and they kinda betray you like leaving, you have such passion for them in the first place that your passion turns, and you wonder why this person you look up to would desert you.. I can understand not wanting to be in a band though, but not one where you've created beautiful music and such a great relationship with your bandmates over a what? almost basically 14 year span?? Saddens me but I have a feeling he'll be back one day!

    • Iva says:

There shouldn't be any reason for bashing and there shouldn't be anyone trying to justify it. You can criticise the music as it is all down to matters of taste, but nobody should explain things in the life of a person they do not know...they should not even try.

Please, stop the immaturity right there and, instead of spending your youth wondering if someone who doesn't know you betrayed you. Instead of that, be happy with what you got from him or, for that matter, anyone whom you've ever looked up to for anything, whether it's a member of your family, a friend or a famous person. When people fascinate you for any reason, unless you're directly related to them or if you worked for them and they didn't pay - they do not owe you anything.

And people you don't know? They're probably not what you made them up to be, at least to a certain extent. Don't hang on to quotes and take them 100% seriously, don't believe that all you see is exactly the way it was served to you. Who knows what the truth is?

In addition to all this, everything on a public website is public. This public website is really big and it serves a much bigger audience than other sites in the niche, in addition to being the only serious site on its subject. When you write things like that here, at least three thousand people are exposed to the fallout of your immature comments every day...that's got to give you an acute illness of an internet gland with long-term effects.

Some of us do learn from our own mistakes..."mistakes"...and everyone should.

Dont see what all the fuss is about... Personally I dont like this new music but dont forget John has also played on a record of the Mars Volta too. He likes doing side projects and differant things with differant people. I wouldnt imagine John being a regular band member for this band. He will probably be doing some of his own stuff soon plus other things with other people

  11. Peter says:

i personally enjoy swahili blonde very much! this music is strange and thats why its beautiful. its sad for me that people can't see beauty in something strange.

    • Niek says:

not everything that is strange is also beautiful....:p

      • Iva says:

I disagree with you on most points, but you're right about this. There are ugly strange things everywhere. Liking something for the sake of how strange it is, being different for the sake of being different...all wrong.

So, I agree with Peter that most of this is likable, but the explanation he pointed out would make me raise my eyebrow, if I knew how to...

  12. Roy says:

God forbid someone express their opinion without getting bashed and getting told they don't know what they're talking about.....

    • Jen says:

OMG thank you! Funny how the person saying that those who don't care for Swahilli Blonde don't "get it" is the same person saying it is wrong to like something because it is strange.

For the record I do not want John to be part of the Peppers either. I think he was miserable with that and should do his own thing. Whatever makes him happy. I guess my point is maybe other things are altering his sense of what that is. That does bother me. Grown man or not, I want him to be around for a long time to make a lot more music!! Even though he is doing this right now, I doubt it will interest him forever. I know he will come out with more great stuff. But, again I say, if he had no part in this album MOST people here would pay it no mind. If it is you thing that is cool too. It isn't mine. But, because I have that opinion I am being grouped into the "RHCP FOREVER" Club. No thank you!

  13. Alex says:

I think people are taking John's involvement in this too seriously really, to be honest I don't think he's making any more of a contribution/commitiment to this than he does with The Mars Volta (personally I think he's far more involved with them, or was, than this), and nobody said you should like this (I for one don't particularly like it) music coz John's playing on it. I doubt many people here are crazy about Macy Gray for example (I could be wrong though). We should be happy he's making music at all, some people just quit altogether when they leave bands like he did. It's good that he's doing something different anyway, even though I'd love him to reform Ataxia, that's probably not the most creative (for lack of a better word) thing he could do right now, so just accept it, nobody says you have to like it.

  14. Chris G says:

When will this be out again?

  15. fawkes says:

I think it's Nicole Turley not Turkey... Anyway turley, turkey... doesn't matter, in fact it's almost the same. :D
    Happy Birthday.

  16. Willis says:

its something completely different, kinda reminds me of atonal music....the dissonance of it that is. im kinda on the fence with it....not something i'd listen to over and over again but really interesting to put on and just let run through. if you enjoy it....enjoy it, if you don't enjoy it....don't listen to it. being a fan of John doesn't have a remit of "must enjoy and embrace everything he does". each to their own!

  17. Baro says:

I don't really like the album cover. I actually find it ugly, I preferred the aesthetics of the elixor fixor single.
Anyone noticed they removed songs from their myspace? And the new version of doctor teeth has Quinn's horns added. Sounds quite cool.
